Leafs @ Canadiens - May 25th, 7:30pm - CBC, TSN 1050

If he had broken the stick, I would be able to understand it, but that seemed like something that shouldn't have been called.

Well, here's the rule:

Rule 61. Slashing
61.1 Slashing - Slashing is the act of a player or goalkeeper swinging his stick at an opponent, whether contact is made or not. Non-aggressive stick contact to the pant or front of the shin pad, should not be penalized as slashing. Any forceful or powerful chop with the stick on an opponent's body, the opponent's stick, or on or near the opponent's hands that, in the judgement of the Referee, is not an attempt to play the puck, shall be penalized as slashing.

So the ref could argue that it was a forceful chop that wasn't an attempt to play the puck.

I'm fine with the call. Brodie got a pretty big wind-up with it too that made it pretty obvious. Problem is it's only called 1 out of every 5 times.

Outshooting Montreal 9-6 despite two PKs and most of their shots coming from the shift after their first PP.  Overall the Leafs still look like the better team

Low key dig at Versteeg by Bieksa lol.

Who would have thought Kevin Bieksa ? he whose name Cherry always mangled ? would turn out to be such a good explainer?
