Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (32-16-5, 2.76 GAA, .922 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?At Friday's practice Babcock stuck with the same forward combinations that they used in Florida, but he did swap Polak back into the defence
?The Leafs will be decked out in an all-white uniform for this game. It's a nice tribute to the Royal Canadian Navy and there's no reason it'll be annoying visually for the audience or players in any way

WSH
?Holtby (28-14-4, 3.02 GAA, .908 Sv%) will likely start for the Capitals
?In the 3 seasons prior to this one Holtby put up a .923 save percentage and he was in the top-10 in that category in each of those seasons. This year he's in a tie for 38th
?Ovechkin currently sits at 597 career goals. So congratulations to Ovi for reaching the 600-goal mark via a hat-trick in an outdoor game in front of 34,000 fans

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
?Auston Matthews - Shoulder - Injured Reserve

Haha re Ovie.

Not understanding the kvetching about the white uniforms. I think they are phenomenal.

I think at this point, when adjusting for era and everything, it's pretty fair to say Ovechkin's already the best goal scorer in history with the theoretical exception of Bobby Hull and the usual caveat re: Lemieux.

The jerseys themselves look good but I do think the whole white-on-white thing could be a problem.

Agreed. With blue pants and gloves, they'd look awesome.

What he's doing this season at the age of 32 too is just nuts. 1.11 points per game would be his highest since the lockout-shortened season, and his highest in a full season since 09/10. He'll likely win his 7th Rocket trophy this season, which would mean he'll have it won it 5 of the past 6 seasons. If he scores 50 goals this season (he's currently on pace for 49.9) it'll be the 8th time he's done it in his career. Since he's entered the league the 50-goal mark has only been broken 13 other times, and nobody other than him has done it more than twice.

In the Star they said if it snows the Leafs will be camouflaged and will have stealth in there attack.  25-0

Using Hockey Reference's adjusted numbers:

Gretzky: 758 goals in 1487 games, 5 goal scoring titles
Lemieux: 616 goals in 915 games, 3 goal scoring titles
Bossy: 461 goals in 752 games, 2 goal scoring titles
Richard: 653 goals in 978 games, 5 goal scoring titles

Ovechkin: 690 goals in 985 games, 6 goal scoring titles(7th on the way)

So it's not even that Ovechkin is at the top. It's that he's at the top by a pretty considerable distance. That 65 goal season may very well have been the best goal scoring year of all time.

This is truth.

That's all wonderful, but Putin.

I generally would advise against the unitard look where possible.

The stealth ?advantage? is also a disadvantage. Good luck hitting your stretch passes.

Not necessary.  We have JVR to pot all 25 from 1 foot out. Which, I might add, will end up making him, and not Alexander the Great, the winner of the Rocket this year.
