Leafs @ Flyers - Jan. 26th, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

I get that we're on a back-to-back, but why play the 4th line with 3 minutes left in a tie game? And why put Hunlack out there with them to boot?

We didn't deserve to win, sure, but we should have been able to get that game to overtime. Hunlack on the ice for both Flyers goals tonight.

I hate giving up points late. Oh well can't get the puck out of your end occasionally comes back to bite you.

Would have liked to come out with a point, but ah well. Reilly would have been the difference there I think. The D apart from Gardiner and Zaitsev looked slow and weak on transition.

Mcbackup was terrific, imo.

I really hope they bench Polak when Mo gets back.

Marty has been solid with Zaitsev who looks more adventurous in the attack with Marincin.

I'd go with Polak before Marincin right now. I know he's the better defenceman when healthy, but right now he's really struggling to keep pace with the play. I'd sooner have Corrado out there until he gets back up to speed.

Pathetic team got the pathetic results that they deserved.

That 4 minute pathetic power play was the turning point IMHO.

We played better 5 on 5 before that pathetic power play.

Oh, and, I mean they were a pathetic team TONIGHT only.

Maybe if the veterans of the team like Matthews, Marner, Zaitsev, Hyman and Brown did something we wouldn't be relying on rookies like Hunwick to not play the puck like a hand grenade.

people complain about Polak/hunwick all the time....but Toronto has the #1 penalty kill in the league.  Who are the 2 tops penalty killers on d?  Polak....and hunwick

They play more minutes during the game at even strength than they do shorthanded.  What good does having a great shorthanded record do for you when the same 2 guys are on the ice for even strength goals against time and again?

Let's go to the charts.  Higher on each line is better.  Note Jake Gardiner is far superior to both Hunwick and Polak.

These rankings / stats only consider even strength time:
