Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (20-10-1, 2.64 GAA, .923 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?No update on Kadri yet, but it seems unlikely that he'll play because of his upper-body injury that definitely isn't a concussion and nobody should ask Babcock about that because he'll be mean to them if they do
?In an attempt to avoid the dreaded "Vegas flu", Chris Johnson reported that the Leafs will be staying about 25 minutes away from the Vegas strip and arena. That'll do it.

VGK
?Fleury (7-1-1, 1.96 GAA, .938 Sv%) will likely start for the Golden Knights
?Just as we all predicted, Vegas currently holds the 2nd best record in the entire league. They also hold the best winning percentage at home going 15-2-1 at the T-Mobile Arena
?Former Leaf Brandon Leipsic finally scored his first goal of the season in Vegas' last game. That along with his 11 assists puts him 9th among Vegas forwards in scoring
?Jonathan Marchessault leads the team in scoring with 34 points in 33 games. He and Reilly Smith, who's 4th on the team in scoring and on pace for over 60 points, were both handed to Vegas by Florida. Man, those computers boys really fudged that one up eh... what's that? Dave "the fixer" Tallon was the one who orchestraded that move? Oh...
?Maybe the biggest surprise on a team full of surprises this season has been the play of 24-year old forward William Karlsson. He's on pace to score 38 goals and 66 points this season. His previous career highs there were 9 goals and 25 points. He probably won't shoot 23.3% forever but it'll be fun while it lasts. Karlsson was claimed in the expansion draft from Columbus (who also traded David Clarkson along with a 1st and 2nd rounder to Vegas).

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
?Nikita Soshnikov - Groin - Injured Reserve
?Nikita Zaitsev - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Nazem Kadri - Upper Body - Questionable Sunday
?Curtis McElhinney - Lower Body - Questionable Sunday
Code:

?Luca Sbisa - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Clayton Stoner - Abdominal - Injured Reserve
?William Carrier - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Oscar Dansk - Lower Body - Injured Reserve

If VGK were actual gamblers running a winning streak like this in a casino blackjack table the house would throw them out for card counting.  The absurdity ends today,  Leafs 7-0 to start McPhee & Co. on an epic tailspin.

Hope you're right, but 3 games in 4 days for Leafs, and the bright lights of Vegas on New Years Eve are beckoning

Leafs have played 23 Road. 16 Home. Different trips for multiple games out in Western Canada, California, Florida and Arizona/Nevada. 23-14-2 record going into New Year's Eve. After tonight five straight at home every other night.

Having had the worst hangover of my life in Vegas (several times) I hope the boys stayed in last night. After tonights game they fly back to T.O. so no high-jinks tonight..LOL
Hope Mitch da B__h is like a flying circus today.

Wonder if Babs gave them any extra motivation today. Win and you get to spend the night in Vegas. Lose and you have to go back to Toronto right after the game where it's -100? C with the wind chill.

Half the team is too young to go out in Vegas
Forgot about the 21 thing, my son was carded there a few years back and he didn't have his wallet on him (he had just turned the age).  He wasn't very happy when refused service.
Mitch would look like a pre schooler to those folks.

I've family who live in Vegas and we went to visit when I was about ten. Arrived at the airport and my aunt was sitting playing a slot machine in the gate area of the airport so I ran over to say hello and promptly got removed by security. They don't mess around. That was a good while ago I suppose so maybe it's a bit more family friendly these days.

Maybe now there's an NHL team I can find an excuse to go back

I have my usual post-Christmas cold so I'm going to Bah, Humbug it up here and say that anyone looking at that Vegas roster and their record and doesn't think it represents just a complete and total nadir for the sport, well, I don't know what to tell you.

The NHL is just Plinko now. And the big farce of it is trying to convince ourselves that the dope who happens to land on the 10,000 dollar spot is a great champion who deserves to have their name inscribed on a cup with genuinely great teams.

Boo, I say.

Is the game also on city-tv today? If so I can watch in full HD on the antenna , no stream required

Looks to be SN only.  My guide doesn't show it on City.
That sucks the Sunday games are supposed to be on city with that hometown hockey crap

Does CityTV still show games? I thought they moved those hometown hockey ones to Sportsnet.

Surprised that wasn't reviewed by the league. Looks like he intentionally led with the elbow

CityTV was showing hockey games at one point.  I thought it was only some random Saturday night games, and not Leaf games.  I can't remember watching a Leaf game on CityTV.

The CityTV website schedule doesn't show any hockey games listed.

That's a superb idea Carlton. Merged with 25 minutes from the strip last night and a curfew.
