It's kind of crazy how little respect he seems to get league wide from the media, I mean the guy is absolutely elite, I wonder if it's because he is so reclusive.

I think part of it is that he's not playing for a winning team. It was kind of the same thing with Sundin in the late 90s. I don't think the way he presents himself to the media helps, but, when you're not clearly one of the top 2 or 3 guys in the league, when you haven't played on an "elite" team, you often don't get the respect you deserve.

I love what Don Cherry said about Kulemin in coach's corner.  Doesn't hit, doesn't fight, doesn't score; $3 million a year.  The only thing he used to do well was defensive play.  But as Don showed he made a brutal giveaway that lead to the goal.  His game has gone down the tubes.

While David Clarkson?s game is soaring to unprecedented hights of 3 goals and 8 points, several suspensions for a mere 5,25M per.

that whole thing was BS.  Doesn't hit?  I saw him lay the body a few times in that game.  And I can't say i've ever characterized him as soft.  Cherry then goes on to complain about his performance and comparing it to people's reactions to kadri.  I'd say the expectations for Kadri's game are a hell of a lot higher than they are for Kulemin's this is a guy who people expect to be a role player  or at least that's my impression of him.  Right or wrong people think Kadri can be a star.

It's easy to be right on coach's corner.  All you have to do is show someone screwing up and then never ever go back to them when they do something right.  The hosts sure were quick to blame him for that goal against..they definitely didn't seem as willing to give him any kind of credit for that breakaway...

Kulemin has 90 hits and 39 blocked shots this year in 42 games.  That's roughly 2 hits a game and 1 blocked shot a game.  But he's not Canadian, so that's why Don has it out for him...

He used to be good defensively so here's a clip of him making a bad giveaway because as we all know if you're good defensively you never make a mistake and one clip of you doing so is irrefutable proof that you're no longer good defensively.

Real good stuff there.

a third line role player shouldn't make 3 mill.

Based on what? Boyd Gordon pretty clearly established that as the market price for one this summer.

Agree or disagree with Don's general idea about Kulemin (which I, for the record, disagreed with), but he was correct in that if Kadri made that turnover, it's massive news.

We've all seen the selective punishment this year, that's just another example of it.

If Kadri made that turn over it would be massive news because he currently makes 2 or 3 of them a game. Kulimen, IMO is 10 times the player Kadri has ever shown. Don is a good Canadian and supports Canadians, but he is wrong here. That is all!!

And a 29 year old grinder with a career high of 46 points shouldn't get a 7 year contract with a 5+ million annual salary.

It's not as though Kulemin should be above any type of criticism, it just seems silly to single him out for his salary which, as Nik pointed out, isn't that uncommon for players of his ilk, and to completely ignore the other qualities he brings to the table. Cherry once called Mikael Renberg a floater. Just because he says something and shows a single clip it doesn't mean it's the truth.

The coaching staff is trying to work with Kadri to improve his defensive game since he's still only 23 years old.  If he's got 200+ more NHL games under his belt like Kulemin has then his turnovers are going to be punished less severely than a younger player doing it.

Plus, Don's just being hypocritical once again.  He lavishes all this attention on Kadri last season, giving him the "Gilmour" treatment - but then complains that if Kadri does something it's going to make the news?

Oh really Don, you hype and hype and hype this guy up after a good half-season and then get all uppity when his mistakes garner more attention as well?

It's just typical Don BS and you're eating it up.

Obviously it's because he's not a good ol' boy from Kingston Ontario.

If only his name was David Jones, earning $4M to play the same role with similar production in Calgary. Maybe then, Don wouldn't care.

First, your first sentence doesn't make any sense.  Second, your hate for Kadri is boring, particularly when you consistently post about him without defending your bogus claims with any stats.

I dont hate Kadri. I just think he is lazy, and does not play every game. Also I dont think believe he is going to become a two way player. BTW, I dont like his diving. But I dont hate him.

Oh you're absolutely right, but when you factor in that's done it over a long time now, surely people need to sit up and take notice.

I mean Sundin was amazing and is still my GOAT, but did he ever have a 3 year period like the one Kessel is on?

I don't think he led the league(or close to it) for 3 straight years.

He produced at similar levels to what Kessel has done through his entire career as a Leaf, but, no, he wasn't in the top 10 in league scoring as frequently, but, I also feel like the quality of the players he was competing against was higher.
