Leafs @ Lightning - Jan. 27th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

Corrado's played 05:23 tonight, just 2 shifts in the 3rd.

Babcock probably wouldn't trust him to watch his dog for an afternoon.

12 goals in their last 10 games.
1 win in their last 10 games.
4 points in their last 10 games.

Bad for good hockey, good for the draft.

That was a perfect tank game - Leafs had plenty of good chances to tie it, Bernier played really well, Stamkos auditioned for Babcock and Lamoriello, Leafs lost.

Yeah, are we sure they were really partnered together all game?  Doesn't really look like it (and the zone start %'s from hockeystats.ca are off by a bit too).

Well things got wonky because Corrado wasn't really playing so they were basically using 5 defencemen. Hunwick was still Rielly's most frequent partner but he also played about the same amount with the others.

He played 20:38 at 5-on-5, 10:21 of that was with Hunwick.

Together they had a CF% of 37.50.

Rielly without Hunwick was at 76.19.

I'm guessing too that maybe they started playing less with each other after the 1st, which was of course when the Leafs 17-6. So there's certainly an explanation for it, just funny to see.

Speaking of which, what site shows who played with who for individual games?  Maybe I missed it on hockeystats.ca

Naturalstattrick. It's not very fancy, but it's the only one with that feature.

So, anyone notice what it was about Corrado's game that seems so repellant to Babcock?

Also, does Corrado get Polak's slot post deadline or do you think there will be a call up?

I honestly thought he played fine. I imagine that Babcock went into the game thinking that this would probably happen, which is pretty bizarre.

But he had a couple of shots on net, I remember he carried the puck into the offensive zone a couple of times, he had a pretty big hit along the boards that was deemed a penalty but shouldn't have been. I don't recall any turnovers. He was only on the ice for 1 shot against and 3 shot attempts against.

Yeah, it was strange. The only thing I can think of is that they've been working on something very specific with him and he did or did not stick to what they'd been working on and that's why he was stapled.

But it's clutching at straws really.

So Stephane Robidas has been out half the season with no real explanation?  He should just retire, or if the leafs are making him sit out the NHLPA should look into it.

He stops getting a paycheque if he retires, so that probably won't happen.

If the league didn't do anything with the Chris Pronger situation I'm guessing Robidas isn't on their radar.
