Leafs @ Oilers - Feb. 27th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

This narrative that Edmonton is the best offense in the league.  They currently have one more goal scored with the Leafs having a game in hand

I?m calling it. This is one of the most complete games I?ve seen from a Leafs team in years. Particularly in the defensive side of things.

For sure. Best team effort all year

Miss the 3rd period but by all accounts a near flawless effort. Great to see even with Matthews out. Nice to see Campbell with the shutout. They mentioned his rebound control and watching him I definitely feel more comfortable than Hutch. Good job boys.

When their passing structure is working, like it was tonight, everything else falls into place. They have the best system for dzone exits I've seen since I started following them. They've got the forwards coming back to support and with a couple of short passes they're out.

OTOH when it's not working like the other night in CGY almost nothing they can do overcomes it.

Every team has nights where what they do doesn't work though?

I'm getting more and more impressed with Marner's two-way game. He's not flashy defensively but he's really really good at covering his guy and breaking plays up in the defensive end.

If, as a lot of us suggested in the Olympic thread, the top Canadian line might be Mackinnon-McDavid-Marner, I really think Marner would be the best defensive forward on that line.

Sure, most nights it's in between that game and this one. The closer it is to tonight the better chance they have.

What a solid win, absolutely complete game all around. Tight defensive game without going shorthanded, that's tough to do.

I was glad to see Kevin Bieksa highlight Zach Bogosian. Bogo has been so solid, just plays a simple, effective game, doesn't try to do too much.
