Leafs @ Oilers - Jan. 28th, 10:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

That's the 2nd time there's been a negative comment about Nylander trying to pass on the 2 on 1, without of course the key point that the defender was Barrie, who we all know is amazing at playing passes on the 2 on 1.

Is it just me or is McDavid not just meh defensively but actually bad. It looks like he's constantly cheating on offense. I mean, I know he's good but can a player who literally doesn't ever defend be considered the best player? Offensively absolutely but he's invisible on defense.

The only reason that pass didnt go through was it was standing as it passed over the stick and juuuuust got tipped. If it was flat it would be a gimme for the snake-bitten Mikheyev.

Totally agree. I watched a lot of Oiler games and he's absolutely only giving a good effort on one side of the ice. He blows the zone constantly, doesn't backcheck hard. I honestly think matthews a more complete player.

It's like you've never seen Jagr play before.  :)

They are really desperate to run the narrative of Nylander being awful.  He has 8 points in 9 games but he was desperate to score.  This nonsense is getting ridiculous

Is engvall not playing? That's disappointing if so.
Boyd played better then him last game so he's in.

I'd argue that pretty hard. Engvall has been terrific every game he's played since his callup. There's several guys I'd sit before taking him out.

Not really sure how Holl is supposed to avoid making contact with the Edmonton player there in the process of passing the puck to Tavares

That's 100% on the Oiler player. Nothing Holl could do there. It was going to be a good scoring chance for the Leafs too.

Refs are in preseason mode. We were just getting the attack funnel going too after Nylander sets up the entry 1v4

This has been a steady stream of last year.  Guys breaking in on odd man rushes because of turnovers at the blueline
