Leafs @ Oilers - Mar. 9th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Leafs have now matched their ROW total from last season, with 14 games left to play. To the "why aren't we doing better than last season crowd", that's pretty significant.

I missed the first, but it was good to see Kadri out there not shying away from contact. Loved that Nylander pass.

On the bad side, I have to say - Matthews looked downright awful. Slow, disinterested, disengaged. I've been concerned about his play over stretches this year, and chalked it up to injury - but I think it's a maturity issue. Not good.

Longest in franchise history. But because Leafs haven't done that we suck and have no chance.
Certainly not what I have been saying.  Team doesn?t suck.  Quite the opposite.  They just have to show it.  We will see.

I don't think he's disinterested. I think he's just used to his skill getting him out of jams and sometimes he thinks he has that extra split second to grab the puck but he doesn't. Don't know if that's disinterest over needing to adjust his game.

I?m disappointed we didn?t put up a touchdown.

Would it cheer you guys up to know the Habs are in 9th?

Nothing will arouse me from the depths of despair over this already lost season because we are destined to face the Bruins. Why should we even try and win if Gauthier is our 4th line centre? Hosed even before we step on the ice because of our slow starts and consistent ability to lose that one game after leading in the final period.

His line was still 70% in CF tonight. I don't think he dominated the puck was in the offensive zone pretty much all the time when Matthews was out from what I remember.

I totally disagree with this. Matthews created a lot of chances tonight and was one of the most dangerous Leafs all night.

Can we really celebrate individual success from guys like Marner anyway.  He?s not going to eclipse Wayne gretzky in scoring.  Hard to celebrate a guy who is going to have to play 29 seasons at this pace to catch him

Yes.  Sorry if not willing to accept 3rd in your division as a victory.  The goal is to be the best.  Just lost to Vancouver after being up 2-0 after 2 and almost went to to OT just now after being up 3-0 with less than 3 mins to go.  Have to be better.

OK, if there have been people in here saying the team sucks, I haven?t heard that.  People are concerned about facing the Bruins on the road, and rightly so.  Of course they can win against a Boston, but there are a few of us on this board that wonder based upon how this year has played out.  It?s a fair concern.

So you aren't going to recognize a historically good season from the Lightning. Cool. It's also kinda hard to catch teams that have a longest in franchise history point streak. So again, because we aren't Boston and Tampa we're shit. Being third in the division but 4th in the league means we're shit. Cool.

Dude, no one is saying they are shit.  Chill.

Having read every GDT this year, I can unequivocally say that some people have said the Leafs suck.

Those people would be wrong.  My frustration is they have Cup calibre talent, but play awfully loose at times.

You know, every now and then I get nostalgic for watching Mats Sundin play but the nice thing is now that it looks like I'm going to see the same bunch of chuckleheads say the exact same things about Matthews that they did about Sundin whenever he'd go pointless.

The team isn't perfect, but I'm tired of some of the notions out there that if we aren't winning the President's trophy and winning the Cup this year that there's some sort of delusion happening by other fans who are happy when they win games. It's irritating that all season long the team may be playing the best hockey we've seen in 25yrs and it's not good enough because other teams are currently ahead of us in the standings. I think I'm allowed to push back against that. It would be nice to for some to allow the board to enjoy the win than to literally take the most negative perspective from a positive outcome.
