You realize that in a week or so time the leafs could be on the outside of the playoffs looking in?  And no one seems worried.

This time in a week or so they could also be 2nd in the league.

Which is more likely?
Who knows? I do know they'll play a couple of games and get a good break to regroup for the stretch run.

If that happens I will stop my bitch?n about this team.
But don?t see it.
East is weak otherwise the playoffs wouldn?t even be a given.
I just don?t understand why Dubas hasn?t done anything. Even some smaller deals to change the makeup of this team.
If he thinks this team can win in the playoffs my judgement of him and his hiring was wrong.

Settle down guys, neither outcome can happen in a week, only 2 games left before the break :)

Huh? 10 of the top 15 teams in the league (based off point percentage right now) are in the East. The wild card teams in the East currently have 59 and 56 points while the wild card teams in the West have 50 and 49.

What, over the past month, tells you this ?slump? is about to end?

Nylander came back beginning of December.  Leafs are 8-8-2 since his return.  That isn?t a slump.  That is bad hockey.  Almost 2 months worth.  Zero signs point to them playing better.

Beating the league's best team for one. For another, the return of their starting goalie. There's also just no way Nylander's 3% shot rate is sustainable. He'll start scoring eventually.

I agree.  But in the meantime he's been awful, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise.

I think Leaf fans have given Nylander a very reasonable grace period. It's time to break out. With how the negotiations went down I'm actually surprised how light the fans have been on him since he's came back considering how he has  played so poorly.

Do I take things too seriously yes I do. That way in everything I do. Are my over reactions amusing call it what you want. Been a Leaf fan since I was 6 years old and I am now retired. Forgive me if I take it too serious. Some of you are too la di da with this team. Give this guy a break, this player some leeway whatever. These guys are paid professionals and I get it have good days and bad but they "the bad" shouldn't be this frequent. Most people if they gave this kind of effort at work would be looking for new employment. These guys are highly paid think they could put out a decent effort on most nights. League is becoming a joke. Skate around almost playing shinny hockey for God's sake and too many on this team not putting in a bonafide effort.
I personally think some don't care playing for Babcock and it's starting to show.

Something needs to give. Babcock looks too stubborn to change things so it's up to Dubas to make some changes if not for this year then down the road. Keep saying it and I'll stick to my guns this team due to it's weak D and especially soft personnel is not built to win in the playoffs.

Millen identifying that Nylander is back with Matthews for the first time 5 shifts after it happened

It seems that it is tough for him to identify things quickly especially when he is between the benches.  But what I find particularly annoying is when he says that ordinary or routine or capable saves are fantastic or unbelievable or incredible.  It is interesting that the director of the telecast doesn?t reign him in more.

I'm okay with cutting the broadcasters a lot of slack.

It's a hella fast game, and ice level is even faster. There's a lot of preparation going into every game (stat packs and the like), and they can be forgiven for not being able to tell one fast kid with a number in the 20s from another amongst 9 other bodies zipping around.

Agreed. I wasn't a fan of paying him like a proven stud when he has yet to show it. If the fans get on his case, like they are on Gardiner, he may be wishing for a trade this time next year.

Don't get the hate some other posters have for Babs though. He's one of the best coaches in the league and I think the Leafs are lucky to have him.

100% agree on both points.
