Well, tonight looks like it might be a long night. Seems like the Leafs may have figured out how to play well at home but not so much on the road.

Based on 36 seconds?

Well, it hasn't improved yet, so, yes. They looked completely clueless on that 1st shift - more than they did at any point against Chicago or LA, but similar to how they looked all night long against St Louis.

Millen just complimenting Gardiner on his play and increased ice time. How long before he's in Carlyle's doghouse again?

Leafs really aren't playing well.  They are playing cute with the puck in the offensive zone.

The good news is your never out of it with Marc-Leaky Fleury in net.

He has a 2.01 GAA and a .924 save percentage while going 18-8-1 so far this year.

He's struggled in the playoffs recently, but y'know, he's pretty good.

Phaneuf should be nowhere near the first PP unit. With Gardiner playing so well what the hell is Randy thinking?

PP could be last in the league and u still wouldn't see any changes. I'd rather have Rielly and Gardiner as the first unit.

This isn't a playoff game. That's not the Fleury the Leafs are likely to see tonight - though, he hasn't exactly shut the Leafs down in his career, so far.

His career .888 SV% against the Leafs says otherwise.  The only team he has fared worse against is Minnesota (.853 SV% in 5 games).

That's good news. He's still a pretty good goalie.

They see the no-name defence and think they can get away with a lot of fancy stuff, when, really, with the no name defence, keeping things simple and putting the pressure on them with speed and physical play is what's going to let them really take advantage. These kids know how to defend against the needless dangles. They'll likely struggle against a real NHL forecheck.

I'm really not clear why Crosby is allowed to slide into Bernier unimpeded on that play.  He had no business getting into the crease.
