will bernier be showing up to play at some point this season

Bernier is an average goalie playing behind a bad team. This is him showing up to play. We've seen more of him like this than we have of him being really good. This is the real Bernier.

Is anyone actually surprised by what's going on tonight?

I'm actually a little surprised at how poorly Bernier started, I mean how many times will they let him do this?

This season? Many. After his current contract? Depends how often they get to play against him.

I've noticed Bernier looks very small when his positioning is even slightly off...do you guys buy his 6'0 on the stat sheet?  Like Kessel when you see a pic of him and Bozak (6'1) the difference seems way more than 1 inch... ie http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/285/files/2014/11/tyler-bozak-jonathan-bernier-nhl-boston-bruins-toronto-maple-leafs.jpg

A couple things there - goalie skates tend to have less of a gap between the foot and the blade; also, Bozak's helmet adds more to his height than Bernier's mask, so, that's going to have an influence when you see situations like that pic. Secondly, without seeing the lower body, it's hard to really come to an accurate judgment. What if Bernier's knees are bent? Or his feet are a little further apart? These things will all influence how tall he looks in the moment. There's really no benefit to a team lying about a player's height, so, I don't know why people think they do. If the team say's he's 6' tall, he's at least 5'11.5" tall.

So Bernier probably isn't the guy long term. Reimer probably tops out as a guy who is a solid backup on a mid tier team.

Is Bibeau going to be the one?

I think you're overstating Babcock's willingness to lose.

Should Bernier continue to put them behind the eight ball on most starts, I think Babcock will run with Reimer more often than not.
