Not sure what you can sign Giordano for down the road but I would love to see him come home in his last few years. Not the player he once was but ship Holl or Dermott to Seattle to help our blue line.
I hope people will stop ripping Muzzin after watching this..the kids have done a decent job but they sure miss him tonight.

Ehhhhhh.  I?d love to have healthy Muzzin back but he?s been responsible for a lot of bad goals like tonight this year.

If there is one person I?d like to single out tonight it?s Dermott.  Every time the defense gets depleted he has failed to step up and provide anything to push him ahead.  I?m ready to move on from him.

Frustrating game.  Shesterkin bested Campbell after the first.

And the first really not-so-good game from the 37/38 pairing.
Dermott was worse lol.
And Shesterkin has been better all year.

Turning point was that 2nd goal. I'm not trying to dump on Jack but he needs to get it back. He's not been good since the shutdown.

100% agree with you. Ship him and Holl out for an upgrade. The 2 Swedes will be fine down the road. Dermott has had his chance and Holl I have no idea what Dubas sees in him.

No getting around that this was a clunker but on the other side nobody should look at that defense and be like "Oh yeah, this is a team that can just shut down other good offensive teams".
They definitely need to pick up some defensemen at the deadline. They don't even really need great defensemen, just serviceable guys in the Bogosian(maybe slightly better) vein.

I actually agree with Friedman. Let the kids play and learn. I'm not disappointed in what happen tonight with them. It's a good lesson for them.

I think that's a no brainer for the Leafs and many other teams. Lots of season to go..2 months before deadline.

Yes.  Take their lumps against a good team on the road in January and hopefully they'll be little bit better come April.

The defensive lapses haven't been good in the last week but it's hard to win games when nearly every mistake ends up in your own net.

On this road trip Campbell has an .865 SV% in four games.  Goalies are allowed to slump but for all the doom and gloom of the last few games its' really just hard to win games when your goalie can't stop the puck.

Nice breakdown of Liljegren's eventful night

He hasn't been good lately and that's a big issue right now. Keefe said last night that it's obvious he isn't playing to the same level.
I also read that T Bay has given up a 2 goal lead 6 times so far this season and manage to also do it twice in the same game. They've also blown a 3 goal lead. It happens to every team. The good part is, this is fixable. It's not so much they're getting outplayed, they're more or less gifting goals. I think they'll be fine. The shutdown and Covid didn't do them any favours.

Campbell was .800 against the Blues on Saturday night, the Leafs just scored 6 goals to make up for that.

Campbell was .808 last night against NYR...I mean, 5 goals on 26 shots is obviously not a surmountable total on a nightly basis.

Just looking at averages, a .900 SV% would have been 2.6 goals against last night.

Campbell didn't get peppered with shots last night, it's just that they needed an average save % and didn't get it.

He's let in 3 or more goals in 8 of his past 11 games, has a .901 Sv% in that stretch but still a 7-2-2 record because of the Leafs goal support. He was clearly never going to maintain a 0.940+ Sv% so this isn't entirely surprising but it's time for the Leafs to stop playing him in every single game and allow Mrazek a shot at earning a bigger piece of the starts pie.

They look more like the Leafs of the first 7 or so games of the year.  Hopefully we can rally off another 20+ game stretch like we did in November/December once they get back on track.

Clearly he wasn't going to carry on but he can't be at .901 either. Totally agree and I said that earlier. Mrazek needs to play and find his game. He's played for the Marlies on Dec 5th and was off LTIR on Dec 11th. He's played in 1 of 9 games since. Not that they've had a heavy schedule but the Leafs are doing him and themselves no favours playing him so little.

This, and the team defense needs to be a hell of a lot better.  I think Jack should have stopped both Reaves goals, but on the first one Reaves was left all nice and lonesome in the slot.
