Leafs re-sign Kampf [4 years, $2.4mil AAV]

Can't say I'm excited. Probably means others I had higher hopes for are not returning.

It's obviously not a very sexy deal and yeah, ideally you'd like to have some 23 year old kid who could step into the job at 1.5 million less but it's also pretty hard to see this deal as being all that prohibitive from either stopping them from making some other move they wanted to make or even trading it if they need to down the line. So, you know, 7 Mehs out of 10.

Would be nice if we had some youngsters in the pipeline who could fill these types of roles while on their ELCs than recycling a bunch of stiffs and hoping to squeeze the most out of them.

My hope was Holmberg could potentially replace Kampf as 4C - he looked good in his cups of coffee with the Leafs, but I guess doesn't have the same defensive prowess (yet) that Kampf does.
I think Holmberg will be our 3C by season's end and by signing him at 800K is good..I thought he'd come in a lil higher

That's high praise.

Would have liked to see him back at about 1.75 million. Between himself and Jarnkrok, we now have two bottom 6 guys making 2+ with absolutely zero physical jam to their game.

How about the others making 7+ million with no physical jam to their game? This is the team Dubas built and unfortunately doesn?t look like it?s going to change much.

I do agree but finding skilled guys making 7+ that consistently finish hits is more rare, that's why it is that much more important to round out rest of lineup (particularly bottom 6) with players of that nature. We will see what Treliving has up his sleeve, but right now team is still way to soft for playoff success.

I agree but it would be nice if they showed some kind of nastiness, pushback etc.
