Leafs @ Red Wings - Dec. 10th, 8:00pm - SN, Fan 590

That Red 13 looks rather dangerous.  Suggest we pay more attention to his positionality.

I guess they wanted more speed?  There was nothing wrong with Smith's play.

Yeah. While it's probably an inconsequential move, it's one I don't really understand, either. I'd rather have the extra centre in the lineup.

If the Leafs were deadset on putting Kozun in the line-up I'm glad it was Smith sitting as opposed to Panik. We'll see how Winnik does in the middle, although I would think he's better on the wing.

Smith could be a bit banged up too, hard to say, but if not, yeah.

Majority of the shot have been in danger zone. Not a bad road period

Gotta disagree. Almost the entire period has been played in the Leafs' zone. That's bad, regardless of the score. Leafs were absolutely dominated 5 on 5 that period.

I agree with Busta. Reimer played well though coming off a 3 week layoff. Looks like we started to get our legs under us halfway through the period.

The brief PK and PP seemed to give them a little life, but, there's still a long way to go.

Think Detroit is a good example of how a coach can teach a team to make plays with the puck/hold onto the puck.  Their role players even play that way.  Doesn't really matter who they bring in or bring up they all tend to be able to play that way or learn to play that way.  I think that points to a large degree to coaching (and obviously management has to identify players to play the system too).  But it can't just be coincidence that year after year they have new players able to do it besides Zetterberg/Datsyuk.

Then you have Clarkson wildly turning and swatting the puck down ice for a counterpoint.

There's clearly an emphasis on it at all levels of the organization. Their scouting staff (both professional and amateur) do a great job of identifying players who capable of it, and they're also doing a great of job of teaching/enhancing those skills through their minor league systems and their individual training programs.

What exactly has David Booth done to justify playing on a line with Kadri this year?  Is it his 1 assist?  I bet it's his 1 assist.
