Zaitsev!

Update on this: Zaitsev finished the night with a 13.3% CF. Hainsey was the next worse at 48.4% and was one shot attempt for away from being even on the night.

When Zaitsev was on the ice tonight at 5-on-5 the Leafs had just 2 shot attempts.

This team is unlikely to make the playoffs if things don?t change.  2 months of uninspired hockey.  Sub 85 point pace.
Man don't you get tired of being negative, we just smoked Washington and Tampa and all the teams have been brutal since the break.  Working in a new D man who looked pretty solid to me.  Stop being so negative .

On a bright note Marlies beat Laval 1-0 in OT. Outshot them like nuts and should have scored a bunch more but Lindgren made some good saves + 2 posts.

He only played 4 minutes in the 3rd, so it looks like the coaching staff noticed how poorly he played.

A terrible ending to a terrible game.

Leafs are 4-13 when I watch, so I'm going back to night shift. You're welcome.

We beat Washington and Tampa and lost to everyone else. Fact is they have been bad for 9 weeks.  Record shows it.  Haven?t won back to back games since December.  Where is the positive?

Joe Bowen jinxed it. On the drive back from the Marlies game I was listening on the radio and he's like "Freddie Andersen has never lost to Detroit, a perfect 7-0!"

That's a terrible record buddy, that means they're like 26-4 when you don't watch

Two huge blue collar plays by Marleau tonight lead to goals, the kids should be taking notes.

He?s guaranteed first star for me.

Yeah that?s my leaning too.

The amount of praise heaped on Marleau for a couple decent plays is astounding to me and shows how low expectations have gotten. He chipped in a bit tonight but mostly he skated around not doing much of anything in the offensive and defensive end, like most nights.

Another disappointing performance and terrible power play performance in what is turning into an extended slump.

Muzzin looked really solid. I can tell I?m going to enjoy watching him play.

It?s not turning into an extended slump.  It is an extended slump.

What was up with the pairings tonight? Rielly played 28 minutes and Muzzin 18?

Babcock gonna Babcock.

The quicker Dubas realizes coaching is a problem the quicker the leafs can fully utilize their talent.

Muzzin also looked painfully slow and I think Babcock sensed that he didn't have his legs out there. I'm not familiar enough with his game to know if that was his normal speed or if this was just the jitters of playing with new team....let's hope it was the latter.

I think Babcock wants to ease him in. New play style and systems. I thought he was very solid and played a good game apart from getting stuck out there too long on that one shift.

Like Nylander, it's going to take him awhile to get in game shape.  Holding out the first 3 months, even if he did skate regularly with a local club team, can't have been helpful to him.
