Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (11-5-3, 2.68 GAA, .916 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs are 2-0 in the Sheldon Keefe era. Just a friendly reminder that any deviation from the streak should be blamed entirely on the team and NOT on the person making the GDTs
?Kerfoot will miss the first of his 2-game suspension tonight. Petan slid up in the line-up to replace him on the 3rd line while Timashov will enter in and play his first NHL game under Keefe

DET
?Howard (2-10-1, 3.74 GAA, .890 Sv%) will likely start for the Red Wings
?A number of teams in the NHL this season have been defying expectations and playing better or worse than what many predicted. The Red Wings are NOT one of those teams. Detroit sits dead last in the entire league in points
?Detroit's growing IR list just got a little longer, as they recently lost their leading goal/point scorer in Anthony Mantha for a couple weeks
?Robby Fabbri, who was recently acquired by the Red Wings from St. Louis, is having a good start with his new team. He has 8 points in 9 games with Detroit
?Detroit called up Filip Zadina, the 6th overall draft pick in 2018, this week after recording 13 points in 19 games in the AHL this season

Injuries

?Trevor Moore - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
?Mitch Marner - Ankle - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Justin Abdelkader - Abdominal - Injured Reserve
?Trevor Daley - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Danny DeKeyser - Ankle - Injured Reserve
?Anthony Mantha - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Mike Green - Upper Body - Day to day
?Adam Erne - Hand - Questionable Wednesday

Game day!  The excitement has been restored, and even amplified, with the subtraction of Babcock and addition of Keefe.

I'm excited to see how the team plays with a few practices under their belt now.

Getting to play the Wings and then Buffalo twice this week is pretty fortunate. Great opportunity to jump back into a playoff spot by December 1st.

These are the kinds of games where the Leafs traditionally play down to the level of their opponents.  Let's see how Keefe's Tora! Tora! Tora! style works instead.

This is completely irrelevant but I'm putting it here anyway because there are some funny quotes and some really excellent bagel trash-talking.

I didn't even know Montreal bagels are a thing.

Seriously?  What rock have you been under? :P

I only had to make it as far as Ottawa to learn about montreal style bagels 20 years ago.  I'm seriously salivating at the thought of stepping into Kettlemans on Bank St.

I actually really like Ottawa, went to school there in the late 70's and had a blast...don't understand why I detest the Senators so much.

It'll be Bernier (5-6-2, 3.30 GAA, .890 Sv%) in net for the Wings.

The rock of these United States of America.  Where "bagels" = "NYC" (at least that's what New Yorkers are forever telling us).

My apologies.  I'm not surprised at all that you aren't familiar with Montreal Style bagels.  Other than Vermont, I don't think I've ever seen them in the US either.

As long as we're on the subject, I hope Andersen pitches a bagel tonight.  :-X :-X :-X :)

Hopefully not Montreal-style from last night. I mean, Price's five-hole was like open-sesame (seed), am I right folks???

None needed.  I actually am surprised that some enterprising company hasn't marketed them here; they sound quite different from NY-style, and possibly more to the tastes of the general American consumer (where sweeter = better).
