When last we saw the Sabres Tage Thompson or somebody was unceremoniously shoving Liljegren out of the way in front of the net so he could score on one of our hapless goalkeepers.

Was hoping for Kallgren to get the start.  Would have been a cool story.

Yeah. At this point just hope he doesn?t have to enter into this game at any point of play.

I really think they should run with the kid.
Keefe is making the right move. He's putting it on Mrazek to bounce back. Kallgren will get some games coming up, no doubt.

I mean the reality is right now Mrazek is under contract and they need to get him going. He's not as bad as he's shown.

Giving Kallgren his first NHL start in such a high visibility game would have been a terrible idea. If he?d had a run of hood starts at the NHL level, that would be one thing. He?s played half a game in this league. Let?s not throw him to the wolves.

Yeah I've wanted to see Kallgren get a chance for awhile now, but this isn't the game for his first start. Tuesday against Dallas could be a good opportunity for him. It's also a good test sorta for Mrazek. Like we get you've struggled, but here's a regular season game that's going to feel like more than a regular season game but against a not great opponent. If he completely craps the bed here that'll really say something.

Not the best game conditions to get a struggling goalie back on track either.  Could be a chance for a really great story for Kallgren, but those tend to go against the Leafs anyway I guess.  If Buffalo was giving a guy his first game today it would have shutout written all over it.  I don't think you can take anything out of any goalie's play in a game like this.

I honestly don't know what some of you are expecting. Kallgren is 25 years old and has decent (at best) stats in the AHL. Outside of a significant trade (which I'm not expecting), we need Mrazek and Campbell (when he returns) to get rolling.

I mean this is leafs 101. Whoever isn?t playing is better than struggling player who is playing.

Who is saying that? I just think a first start in an outdoor game is a good story. Like zamboni drivers winning games.

Hopefully they come out with a good start and Mrazek gets back to playing ok. I have no idea why we struggle against shit*y teams especially the Sabres. We'll see who shows up today.

I love Hamilton and Lin Manuel Miranda but odd choice for intro music to an NHL game.
