I dind't realize they had Coliacovo....Take advantage of Fransons non foot speed

Speaking of him, looking back, I really thought he had better #'s as a Leaf.  I know he was injured a ton but I always had this memory of him having produced more offensively than his stats seem to indicate.

Random fact when looking into this: In 07/08 Hal Gill was 2nd among defencemen on the team in even-strength scoring. White had 20 points. Gill, Kaberle, and Kubina all had 19. And Gill played between 9-19 less games than those 3. Good times those were.

I think Hal Gill had an undeserved bad rap.

Nah it was definitely deserved, the knock on him was his mobility, which was getting worse in a league that was transitioning to being all about quick skating players.

Gardiner will miss tonights game with an injury. No word on the severity of it right now.

Corrado or Marincin?

I feel bad for Jake, has a coach that loves him now and was off to a good start, hope it's nothing serious.

I was actually going to say, did he have a bad rap as a Leaf? I never really remember him being a punching bag or anything for fans. I do agree with Bender though, he was probably under appreciated as a Leaf. Had a 53.8 CF% as a Leaf and scored at a pretty decent rate too which was unexpected. I remember he and White formed a good bottom pairing.

Marinicn.

I'm a little bit surprised that Corrado hasn't seen a game yet. I figured learning Babcock's systems might be a stumbling block early on, but he's had a fair bit of practice time now.

Edit: 4-1 Sabres, and Eichel with a 3-point night.

'Pylon' was the word used frequently to describe him around these parts back then.

If you're looking to replace Gardiner's skill set, wouldn't Corrado make a little more sense?

He is apparently more of a two-way skating guy than Marincin seems to be, no?

I'd say that they're probably pretty similar defencemen. Corrado sounds like he's a bit better in the offensive zone while Marincin has the slight edge in the defensive zone. Corrado's a right-handed shot though, so maybe they're hoping Gardiner is only out for 1 game and they want a left-handed shot so their other pairings aren't disrupted?

That would make sense.  OTOH sooner or later they need to get Corrado into a game, and this season it hardly matters which.

It's only a matter of time before he starts rotating in for Polak. Phaneuf's on the right side and I don't see them breaking up the Rielly-Hunwick pairing any time soon so that's the only spot that he can take.

I'm down with that.  BTW I like Polak myself, a decent d-man who has more speed than some give him credit for, but he really needs to be shipped at the deadline or earlier if there is any market for him.

Shanahan's getting Hunter to shiv guys if they score points in two straight games.

You know, I don't think that anybody has actually seen Tyler Bozak for a few days...

Check Phil's luggage.
