I'd be quite happy if every Leafs game was covered by TSN.

Me too. Hughson is above average and Bob Cole is a Bob Cole and we rarely hear him. But when you get beyond those 2 Sportsnet is awful. Cuthbert or Miiler are excellent and I really like Ray Ferraro

I know that some people have actual issues with Hughson and Simpson but ignoring all of that have either of them ever said anything interesting?

You don't find the constant faceoff talk interesting?

Yeah, we've had more than enough of that.

I know lots of people don't like Hughson but I do.  His PbP narrative is good and he's got dynamic variation in his voice.

He needs to drop "smeagoled" from his vocabulary, but, otherwise, I agree.

In general I agree. He's fine enough calling games. I just think he's sort of a corporate focus group version of a hockey announcer.

For the most part, I'm satisfied if play by play and colour err on the side of bland in order to side on less annoying, vs trying to add too much to the viewing experience.

Yeah. That's probably an accurate way to describe him - and, also probably what's safest for a national broadcast. He may not bring a ton of people in, but he's not making people tune out, either.

I'd love to see Hyman with a move other than shield the puck and come around the net and weakly shove it into a wall of short side goalie pads for a whistle. He seems to do this about 5 times a night.

That's 3 or 4 times when Matthews kept it in when he had no business doing so.

He's sort of the Leafs' very own Mark Stone.

But he'll need to step it up if he expects to match Stone in being underrated.
