TSN reports that the game has indeed been postponed.

As it had to be, since the Leafs are stuck in their downtown hotel.  It's not a matter of "giving in" at this point; it's a matter of safety and sheer logistics.

I think the right decision would be to call it off ASAP. Nobody will be in much of a hockey mood, fans or players.

But then I can also see an argument for the whole carry on as normal so as not to give in to these guys.

I think reading not playing a scheduled hockey game as "giving in to these guys" is a little premature considering we have absolutely no idea who they are and why they did this.

I was just having this argument with a colleague at work.

Him: This is terrorism'
Me: ok, what's they're goal, what is it that they are upset about
Him: They say it's because canada is going after the terrorists
Me: Who said? What Terrorists? What are they hoping to accomplish by doing this?
Him: It's Terrorism, Toronto is next.

So I just walked away.

I think sometimes people today forget that sometimes we still have just good, old-fashioned crazy.

mirtle: So the Leafs game likely won't be rescheduled for tomorrow. They'll be heading home from Ottawa today.

oh good. I went to a lot of trouble to arrange to work tomorrow night in exchange for tonight for the game. (first world problems...) woulda really pissed me off if the new version of the game was tomorrow night. Don't misunderstand, I fully agree with postponing tonight..

jonasTSN1050: Neither Leafs nor Senators play tomorrow and building has no scheduled events. Might make sense to reschedule the game until then.

This seems like the likely outcome. Neither team plays on Friday either or has significant travel for their next game. Nothing official yet, though.

If this is the case, why not play it tomorrow night? Or even have the Leafs play on back to back nights in the first place?

I'd hazard a guess that for them to play tomorrow the decision to do so would have had to have been made at almost the same time as the events were unfolding.  That the logistics of holding a game 24 hours later, ie getting all the employees available ..notifying the fans of the change ..required more time then was available.

The information about today is still trickling out.  Earlier there was the possibility of shooters still being at large and of this becoming a multi-day affair like the situation after the boston marathon bombings. So they instead decided to postpone it indefinitely and deal with it after everything was settled.

Right before Remembrance Day, too.  It may be coincidence, but it's fitting.
