Leafs sign Frattin (2 Years, 850k AAV)

Frattin and McClement each for 2 years at a combined 2.35 mil cap hit? Yeah they're minor deals, but smart money nonetheless. I'll take it.

If only we could use the savings (combined with the Armstrong buyout) on a player that would help us win a bunch of games.....

Fwiw I think McClement's role on the pk could do that...

I'm not convinced. Dupuis and Wallin weren't exactly bad on the PK and we still managed to be bottom feeders.

This team needs difference makers, and while I think JVR will help in that department, I think an impact (defensively or offensively) D-man or top 9 forward is still very much in need. That's not even stating the obvious of a #1C or #1 or 2 D.

When Wilson finally got it into his head to work on the PK it started to pick up after that dreadful few months.  I think it was more around the 80% clip.  I think one big advantage of Steckel and McClemment being your two best PKers is that now Grabovski and Bozak aren't wasting themselves on the PK so they have more to give at ES and on the PK.

Jay is several cuts above those guys and should really help in the pk dep't. I'm all for filling those needs but you have to be a bit realistic about it. These are pretty good signings.

Isn't this what we should be expecting for a guy who hasn't really proven anything yet?

Here's hoping that he'll be due a big raise in 2 years.

Pretty much. I mean, I like Frattin as a player and all, and yeah, he had an excellent playoff run with the Marlies, but, good AHL runs don't translate to big NHL money. This is probably fair money for a guy who put up 15 points and spent time in the minors. Hopefully it proves to be a steal, but, I wouldn't call it one yet.

What a bargain! If Frattin and Kulemin continue to go in opposite directions, this kid could be on the second line.

Wow that's awesome.  Another no-name secured!!

You don't really follow the Leafs, do you?

Lol, the Frattin deal was one that I was pleased with. Cap hit is great, hope he can continue to develop.
