Leafs sign G Harri Sateri

Don't forget that Dubas for some reason took Carter Hutton of the Coyote's hands for 'future considerations' which generally means there were none and they just wanted rid of a contract slot.  I wonder if that opened the door for Coyotes to add another goalie to their system....oops backfired on Dubas.

They only have 44 contracts, so no, they were just being dicks.

Yup.

I meant the fact that the Coyotes had more of a need to add another goalie to their system after moving on from Hutton.

Maybe the plan was to have the Yotes claim Sateri all along.  If the Yotes would have signed him, he would have had to go through almost the entire league.  This way with the Leafs signing him, he only had to make it past Montreal and Seattle.

They had 5 goalies under contract already, and no expectations of trying to compete. They were fine until they decided to move Wedgewood - who would have been the 6th goalie they had under contract. The Hutton trade had no bearing on this.

Yeah Arizona somehow being able to get a 4th round pick (3rd round pick if Dallas makes the playoffs) all for Scott Wedgewood, a career journeyman goalie who the Coyotes claimed off waivers early in the season, was really what caused this.

I'm assuming there's no mechanism by which Arizona puts him on waivers and the Leafs can reclaim him...?

At this point, no. Wouldn't be able to use him on the NHL roster if they did.

I was disappointed when the Leafs weren't the team that claimed Wedgewood.

This is what you get for doing all the prior legwork, negotiating for a guy who WANTS to be here, and I believe had to buy himself out of a KHL contract, and other GMs want to fuck our team and fuck his life up just because. What a loser league.

Particularly the Coyotes who haven't got two nickels to rub together.
