Leafs Sign Klingberg [1 year, $4.15mil AAV]

1 year is good. He can get the Toronto exposure bump when the cap goes up. And get a home cooked meal in Nov when we play in Sweden.

With Klingberg signing, whatever chatter there was about them trying for Karlsson seems likely to be dead. I'd say they still probably need a physical dman who can help the PK ...

Seems like a short term filler when they couldn't land a physical RD PKer to replace Holl

Like the player, don't like the (reported) cap hit.

Hoped it was 3.75 but if he can significantly help the back end I'm ok with it. Still a decent amt to play with, esp if we can offload Murray.

4.15M per the team's press release.

If last season was an aberration - and, considering he was much better in Minny, I think it was - that?s great value.

He could be good value but it's another signing that to me comes in on the high end of what he should be getting.  There really isn't a lot of value going on for what are depth players on the roster.

Would rather this deal for Klingberg at the higher cost than the 3 years given to both Schenn and Holl.

He's Barrie 2.0.  And it remains to be seen if that'll be a good or bad thing.

Hard to do that via free agency with few young players taking those high value roles.
