Who do the Leafs have that naturally plays the right side? Phaneuf, but who else?
CarltonTheBear said:Make Liles and Fraser disappear for cap/roster space. Although that coule be very, very difficult.

The Leafs might have to take a small cap hit on Fraser and stick in him with the Marlies, where he belongs. Whatever he's awarded over $925K will count against the cap, but, realistically, it won't be a significant amount.

I am hoping the details on Ranger put him at 925k or below as well in case he ends up not making the club. This signing may be a tactic in the Franson negotiations or more likely to get Fraser to come in at a lower number during the hearing.

Not likely. Signing Paul Ranger to an NHL deal is in and of itself a succesful and important step for the team.
Gilmour the Great said:Is there ANY public indication as to why Ranger has refused to play in the NHL over the past few years? It is unusual to have a player willing to play professional hockey, but not top-tier professional hockey.
There seems to be some unspoken understanding among the media to not publicly ask Ranger anything about this hesitancy. It's very unique.
Any ideas?
