Leafs officially announce Santorelli, Kontiola signings along with Troy Bodie for one year.

hopefully it is two way contract

Really wouldn't matter at all for the Leafs.

Happy to see him back, especially if it means bumping Orr down the depth chart another slot.

One way and two way is a largely meaningless distinction, and, honestly, I couldn't care less if Bodie earns the same amount in the AHL as he would in the NHL.

I agree.  A big body who skates hard and anticipates plays well enough to get himself a few breakaways last year...couldn't finish as well as Kessel though.  He can fight if something gets stupid in a playoff game but is not a regular season goon....infact would get beat in most fights with real fighters.

He had decent point totals last year and was surprisingly responsible. Good move to get rid of the face punchers

Orr and Mcclaren done.... AWESOME

? Why

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Clarkson
Komarov - Kontiola - Santorelli
Ashton - Holland - Frattin

Bodie, McLaren, Orr...Leivo, Broll, Abbott

Basically Bodie can fill the enforcer role if necessary, and based on the signings they've made it doesn't appear as though there should be a spot left for them.

My thoughts exactly

Yes, so glad to hear this. I really like Bodie's energy and grit. This takes a little of the sting out of losing D'Amigo.

Glad to see this one too.

Maybe Nonis and Shanny aren't stupid dummies after all.

Maybe, but, they were also saved from their dumbness by the dumbness of others. This offseason could have turned out really differently if Bolland decided to take the Leafs' offer and Gorges waived his NTC (and, likely some other potential moves we don't - and may never - know about).

yes that would have been a true disaster.  We didnt sell the farm again like last year with Clarkson (whom I still believe in by the way)

I don't know about "aren't stupid dummies" or anything but I do think that the decision to keep Carlyle around was incorrectly interpreted by some as Shanahan and Nonis thinking that there weren't serious changes needed or that they should just stay the course.

Well, the fact that they were pretty "in" on signing Bolland to a pretty significant price tag, I'm not convinced that they are really changing course.  The team as built today looks pretty mediocre, and the future really doesn't look all that bright with anything significant coming down the pipe.

Is anyone really suggesting that the team's future looks brighter with the added talent, or is the consensus just that people are happy they didn't sign another Clarkson type deal?
