How come Dallas was able to pull off deals for seguin and spezza but we can't seem to trade for a good centre?

a) Recent history of poor cap management: the pieces we want to move are too cap heavy; the pieces other teams want are going to open up more holes than we can fill;
b) Toronto media fishbowl is a turn off for some
c) Those two aren't really the centres we'd want anyway
d) More talented centres would merely mask our issues for longer

those two centers aren't the ones you want?  Do you prefer Bozak and Kadri to Seguin and Spezza?

I want to say I don't even care anymore, but I know I will again by 7pm.

Damnit.

GLG.

This is it. I managed to sit out the Chicago game the other night, but I'm off work tomorrow so can have a lie in so it looks like I'll relapse immediately to 3am sleep patterns

We're like addicts who have accepted our lots in life.

But really we just enjoy being negative about the team more than watching them, am I right?

As long as there's a comedic element, yes.

Actually, I really am rather sick of the team being so bad for so long with the management making the same mistakes over and over.  I can remember in the early 2000s when this board was a really lively place, many active threads, a whole passel of posters, etc.  Then the team fell of the cliff and people just drifted away after years of mediocrity at best.  I really long for the days when we at least had the expectation of making the damn playoffs most every year.  It's not that bloody hard in this league, after all.

tell that to edmonton

I can't speak for anyone else, but I enjoy watching the games when I can, and talking about how it is (and should be) played. I like playing armchair coach and GM and analyst. I appreciate good backchecks, crisp well supported breakouts, offensive zone line changes off of strong cycles, and top cheddar backhands from the blue paint.

I feel pretty frustrated when the Leafs don't play the way I know they can. I'm ecstatic when we win properly. I like how fast our team is, but I hate how we fritter that away with terrible positional play. Our current system seems to be a 'work harder, not smarter' situation that is wearing down the body and baffling the mind.

With the system we're playing in, it'll just be more of the same at a greater cost.

I wonder how many times Clarkson fell down doing that?

Santorelli looks insane. Also Gardiner looks as nervous singing as he does on the ice.

Still no Komorov eh?

I think his return will provide a real shot in the arm for this team. Until then, I'm not counting on much. Although, I think it will be a much closer game tonight than the past three. Hell, I'll even predict a win tonight..

Not a fan of Lupul-Bozak-Kessel.  Lupul's arguably worse than JVR defensively.

Arguably.

Also, "new line combos"?...more like "switching top 2 left wingers."

Those are also lines that Carlyle used recently too and stopped quickly because they were getting dominated.

Noticeably absent?  Phil Kessel.  He hates Christmas and Leafs fans.

At least we know Clarkson fumbles words as much as he fumbles passes.

Well to be fair, he was too busy kicking dogs and stealing candy canes from little children.

I hate being negative. Heck I even hate being realistic at the minute cos the realism isn't so good!

I do still enjoy aspects though. I've always enjoyed watching hockey goalies and the Leafs pair are fun to watch. I've enjoyed watching Kadri develop this year.

I enjoy watching our speedy forwards and Kessel's shots.

I just wish they'd win more. I can deal with the lack of sleep when they win  ;D

I've always enjoyed watching defensemen develop. We've got a good pair here that promises to get better and more exciting to watch for years to come in Rielly and Gardiner.
