Leafs talking to Kiprusoff's agent

Get rid of Rask, get Toskala, and then get Kiprosoft?  What's with Toronto and Finnish goalies?

Any other players out there who've said they won't report if traded? I really think we can corner the market on this...

Dear god no.

Agreed.

Nonis should let it be.

This team is gradually coming together and growing as a team after 4 years of turning the roster over every year. They are now playing as if they are accountable for their performances.

I would not want to see one roster player moved nor any 1st or 2nd rounder sacrificed on the altar of premature playoff expediency.

Continue the build and when we are a real contending team then fill with trades. Not now.

The Leafs need to go the cheaper route and bring in a vet as insurance right now as opposed to bringing in a guy who will be looked at as a #1.

I like Kiprussoff, but now 's not the time to expend the assets to bring him in.

Agree with the last 2 posts. It's not like it is a Cup run this year with a piece missing.

It seems the linked article has been updated:

"According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the Leafs have discussed a contract extension with Kiprusoff's agent."

:o

I wouldn't mind him on the team per se, its the potential cost that terrifies me. Anything better than a 3rd rounder and I throw up.

I know it's Jay Feaster and everything but I doubt he just gives Kiprusoff away for nothing.

Theyre just seeing if they trade for him if he would resign for 2 years or something.

As I am in Calgary and forced to watch Flamer games I can tell you the stats this year are partially to do with returning from the first real injury he has ever had. Also the premature birth of his child and the fact the team is brutal in front of him this year.

That being said depending on the assets given up I would have no issue at all with taking Kipper. He has the ability still to single-handedly win games on his own or at least keep them in games. If the Flames had anyone to score they would be doing much better. As long as we aren't giving up a First Round pick I wouldn't mind at all.

Would Feaster really dish Kiprusoff for a 2nd or just a 3rd? I sure as hell would try to hold out for better than that but...

Oilers score on first shot against Kipper, looks like Kipper is doing his best to scuffle these trade talks, keep it up buddy.

So what does this mean for reimer?  Kipper is not coming in to be "insurance" he will start down the stretch.  And then to have him for 2 more years after next? so he'll be 39 and reimer will be 27 at the end of that deal.  Unless they will share games in the next 2 or 3 years with kipper being a true backup in the last year.  But in that case what will he re-sign for 3-4mil per? I'm not so sure and anything more is too much for basically a backup.

weirdness.

This could all just be a ploy to drive the bargaining price down for Luongo... which I hope isn't true.

Just go with Reimer and Scrivens.. after 7 years of misery just playing 4 games in the playoffs is like water for a man dying of thirst.

In fairness to him though, all of the Flames look awful, probably not nice playing on a team where it feels like everyone is abandoning ship.

Sure if this were a recent turn of events but he has been horrible all season though.  Joey MacDonald is outplaying him.
