Here's Bobby Mac's camp preview for the team: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/training-camp-preview-maple-leafs-looking-to-turn-the-corner~954381

As others have mentioned elsewhere, Lupul (and Horton+Robidas) will start camp on the IR: http://www.tsn.ca/lupul-s-future-with-maple-leafs-soon-to-be-clear-1.571289

I'm excited to see zaitsev, matthews, marner, and andersen

Connor Brown is listed at 190.

HockeyDB has him at 170, he's bulked up.

He was listed at 190 lbs on last years training camp roster as well. Marner and Nylander are also listed as the same as last year, although Marner has said he gained 5 lbs this summer.

While I have no idea where he would have played, I'm kinda bummed that this is happening. I always liked Lupul, and while his play has obviously dipped he always seemed like a good guy to have around.

"Everything will be okay, Joffrey. Just read out the cards Shanny's holding up to the nice people on the phone and everything will be okay."

I gain 5lbs if I look lustfully at a pizza.

Shame about Lupul. I hope there isn't more to it than him just being hurt.

Lamoriello: As you know, Joffrey, in the middle of February, had surgery and missed the rest of the season and has been in rehab all summer. Once we had thought there was a chance of getting back on the ice, he did so. He got on the ice and he had the same discomfort. We brought him back and he saw our doctors and he went through the physical. We both felt that he wouldn?t be able to play. He?s very disappointed. He worked very hard at it this summer. I know a lot of you have tried to reach out to him because he and I have been in communication. Steve [Keough] will have a statement from him later today of what he has to say about it. He?s disappointed. He?s going to continue to work at it. He wants to play. We?ll just have to wait and see.

Can you give us the timeline of when he had the physical and all of that?

Lamoriello: He had his physical this past week.

Obviously I guess there are different grades of these things but when he had his surgery it seemed there were a lot of "Will he ever play again?" that seemed a little odd for a 32 year old guy who just had a sports hernia. Then, you know, surprise of surprises he's not ready to go 8 months later.

I'm not saying it's fishy, Like I said there are grades of hernias I assume, but still. Either way, it's a bummer. In a season I still hoped would be a tank-ish one he seemed like someone to put on a line with the kids. Ah well.

I wonder if in general, he isn't physically capable of moving his body in certain ways hockey players do.

They could have tried to address the hernia, in hopes it would allow him to get over it, but it seems he hasn't yet.

It's strange.

That's what I imagine it is. It's not just the hernia, but, it's the impact of the hernia, the surgery, and all the other injuries he's suffered over the years kind of compounding into an overall "not fit to play" status.

So there's a user on hfboards that's been pumping Bracco's tires since his draft year. Turns out he's Bracco's step-grandfather! I'm only getting this after the fact through reddit because I don't peruse hf.

Here's his latest update:
All I know is that our grandson always has a knack of coming up big in important games. Have to give the kid credit for coming back from Saturday night lip having staples and finishing the way he did today. Also don't know if anyone noticed that he put on another ten pounds this summer as well as grew 2-3 inches. 5'11" and 185 give thanks to strength program of the maple leafs

Of the OldExpensiveThree, I hope we keep (only) Laich.
Mostly because he over-shares. And is competing with Dicky for being a Marlie Dad.

Do you like training camp? Or is that a bit of a grind you have to get through?

Laich: It?s great in so many ways. You get to see so many faces. It?s also a pain to see so many faces. There are 70 guys around and you want to just get down to your team. But it?s great to have some good practices. In the summer, you don?t get to do a whole lot of competition drills, so training camp is good for that. In the summer you work on your skills, your skating, your touches ? that sort of stuff. Puck battles ? one on one competition ? is such a huge part of the game, so I don?t think you don?t get as many reps at that as you will in training camp. I enjoy training camp though. It?s great. It?s preparation. I want to play as many games as I can. Try to get to ready for the new season, get to know new linemates, new teammates, feel out the new guys and get to know them a little bit. Also, still, I only spent six weeks here, so I want to get to know the system, the structure, the coaching staff, and have that be automatic so that it?s just protocol when you hit the ice.

Contains some new jersey numbers too, although we might have to wait for these to be confirmed as permanent. Nylander has 29, Marner 16, and Brown 12.
