Lightning @ Leafs - Jan. 2nd, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

4th line + 3rd pairing on the ice at the same time and they get absolutely pummeled (including Hedman somehow getting a wide open look from the slot).

Why did we ever let Stralman get away? He was dynamite in that Rangers cup attempt and has been so solid for Tampa. He's the perfect 3-4 defenceman who can even play top pair at a pinch. EDIT: and is right-shot. *sighs*

We needed just a bit more patience back then.  Probably a good thing to keep in mind this season, in fact.

Lack of patience to allow him to develop/Burke needed Calgary's 2nd rounder to get the Leafs' 2nd rounder back from Chicago to put on the pressure in the Kessel deal/didn't put up big flashy numbers, and teams didn't really have the analytics departments that saw the full extent of his ability.

What's nuts is that Calgary and Columbus both basically gave up on him too. And then the Rangers let him go so they could keep Girardi.

Why is Gauthier on the ice when there's less than 10 minutes left in a 0-2 game?

At least it?s Marner in for Martin.

Gauthier looks pretty okay.

Is it just me or does he look a tad quicker?

He is (and was prior to the injury). He is also running at a leaner weight and building confidence in his puck handling. He?s made a couple of moves to out wait the check and get a clean out (or in).

I think you are forgetting the glory year of Wayne (don't call me Keith) Primeau era
