Looking at the replay of the second goal, I don't see how Polak gets any blame for it, despite Kypreos's comment.

I've heard it is usually effective to play defense in a manner that helps your goalie see the puck.

I've heard that the crowd mentality often gets the better of folks.

That's why it's important to clear them out of the crease.

And if you didn't, you tie him up, which Polak did until Andersen muffed it.

Right. So he screened his goalie and didn't get in front of his guy. Andersen could have played it better, sure, but pretending that Polak didn't make two big mistakes there doesn't hold up.

People can criticize Andersen all they want but anyone pretending the team's defense hasn't been absolutely atrocious is kidding themselves.

Bad defense and mediocre goaltending is a deadly combo.

Don't let word get out but this looks suspiciously like a team that finished in last place last season, less like the 09-10 Blackhawks.

He tied him up so well he managed to use his stick to put the puck in.

He was on the wrong side of his man. Period. Even if that puck doesn't get through Andersen, Killorn is in prime position to nab a rebound before Polak can do anything about it. He played it wrong, and it made a bad play worse.

100% on Andersen.  Live with it.

Not at all, if Andersen makes the stop he should have.

Look, the first was flukish, and nobody stops the 3rd.  I'm giving Andersen the benefit of the doubt a lot so far, but not on that one.

And BTW I agree with not pulling him.

Wait, we have 4 righties on this powerplay? That doesn't seem ideal.

(which means 4 lefties on the other unit). Probably should mix that up a bit.

Andersen did have any chance on the third goal at all every goalie in the league would of missed that.

Hunwick is not going anywhere. BABs boy. Lets stop bitching about him.

Please someone run Stammer over once in a while.

I'm not going to harp on Andersen's play so far this season. I stated on an earlier thread he was hurt prior to the World Cup so I was going to give him a few games to get into the swing of things. The one thing I will say and I never will figure out is how some of these managers or management look at a goalie like Andersen. I have always felt playing on good defensive teams will always make your numbers better. When you compare a team like Anaheim to the Leafs over the last few years it's like night and day. One you face fewer shots and two you face fewer good opportunities or quality chances. So the numbers I've always felt may be misleading. Is Andersen the guy? I don't know it's too early to tell. I will say this though his rebound control and positioning so far this year has looked weak.Again let's give him some more time and then we'll see.

I admire the strength of your convictions. Unlike Polak's effort on the goal.
