Lightning vs. Maple Leafs - Nov. 30th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

Also I can't wait until Sportsnet loses the broadcasting rights. Simpson was basically rooting for Tampa to finish the comeback. I'm tired of watching visiting broadcasts every flipping game
Most of the away broadcasts praise the Leafs. SN is the worst. TSN with Miller and Johnson is so much better. Every other Cdn team gets a "home" crew. Too bad Bones and Ralph weren't on tv, but i would take Miller/Johnson anyday. And def would take Amazon also over SN.

Um...ok. Sure.

I mean...if you are ok with the team leading 4-0 with 10 minutes left in the game, then giving up 3 goals and nearly a 4th due to "score effects", then there isn't much to discuss.
If the Leafs did that you'd be complaining that they couldn't comeback even though they were gifted ample opportunities that they didn't even deserve. There really isn't much to discuss tbh.

To be fair he was calling out the refs for booking only OEL.

Aside from Bowen on the radio calling Leaf games.... I would rather watch TNT broadcasts which were so awesome in prior seasons with BizNasty, Gretzky, and sometimes even Charles Barkley and Shaq coming on. Plus Jackie Redmond.

SN/CBC has become so lame. (Except for Kevin Bieksa who kept it bareable) McLean bores me to death with his poetry.

Watching the US opposing broadcasts or Amazon for Leaf games you get excited because they priase the positive aspects of the Leafs. Even Boston.

Would have preferred a better scoreline given it was 4-0 but that was as fake a comeback as I've ever seen
Aside from the zebra assist, the Lightning made a valiant push on the second half of a back-to-back, down their top scorer and a critical pivot (at least in Leaf games) after riding their remaining stars 22+ min the night before.

Regardless of the outcome, don't like the way this third period went. Tampa upped the intensity and the Leafs didn't match it. Were under siege the whole period. And Tampa played last night
I don't think that's quite a fair assessment. Tampa only "upped the intensity" with 5 minutes left in the third period and an empty net. They also got some incredibly lucky plinko bounces. I thought Toronto shut them down impressively the entire 2nd and most of the 3rd, all the while playing with 5 D. The PP shots and empty net chances really padded Tampa's shots/numbers.

Tampa is a good team... and the Leafs have some regulars out of the line up too.. not at the Kucherov level but good contributors ...and part of the game without half of their shutdown D... so... credit all around..

All those teams that lost to the Leafs while Matthews was out should just fold their franchises.

No, I'd be complaining that they let themselves get down 4-0 in the first place.

I'd argue TWO zebra assists. A pick on Marner that wasn't called and should have put Tampa shorthanded which would have effectively killed their comeback before it began.

I wasn't happy with the 3rd either Chris. They sat back and they almost paid for it. Don't know if I missed it but did Berube call a timeout and settle them down and give them an earful. TB got lucky but when you sit back bad things are going to happen. There should have been offsetting penalties on the OEL crosscheck. Difference I thought was between the pipes. TB was the better team and without Kuch and back to back.

There was also the directed goal off Atkinsons foot.

Like someone already said on this thread........ NHL referees are there to make it entertaining. And that game was entertaining!

I feel like Toronto can beat most of the team's in the Atlantic in 7 games..... except for Florida.

And the Leafs were down a key defenceman.

I agree with you and Andy007
Two pucks in off skate blades during 6 on 4/5, loss of McCabe to an already injured team and a bad call awarding a 6 on 4 helped manufacture a result that was closer than it maybe should have been.
Woll was a hunk of the difference but when I last checked, he plays for the Leafs.

At least Berube didn't seem willing to write it off as "score effects" or being down a defenseman (Tampa was down a Kucherov) or crappy officiating.

"With the goalie out, we were a little bit tentative and didn’t win enough battles. We didn’t do a good enough job. We let them move it around too easily, in my opinion.

It is something we will look at and get better at.
"

I thought it started before the goalie was out but in any case, glad the coach recognizes it for what it is.

The Leafs do have a bit of a problem with their defending at the end of games.

The Leafs have given up 6 goals when 6 on 5 and have another goal given up 6 on 4. So 7 goals with the opponent net empty. Seeing as the team has only given up 60 goals on the year 11% of their goals being at the end of games isn't great. The good news is the Leafs are 12-0-0 when leading after 2 so they are typically giving up goals when they are leading by more than 1 goal but that is the most goals given up by a team facing 6 attackers.
