I am having a hard time with someone from Loblaws running off with it. It should of been directly given to the Hockey hall of fame. But then again I am also having a hard time with the whole Maple leaf gardens being turning into a grocery store. IMO

i don't mind Loblaws taking it. They're the Owner of the building. The time capsule probably holds more than just hockey memorabilia. Hopefully they've hired a professional in handling historic artifacts.

I'm not sure how similar Canada's laws are to Australia with this sort of thing, but there conceivably could be some sort of dispute if the true owner of the capsule came forward/was known.  Otherwise, it's probably Loblaws' now.

or atleast say what it is.  The fact that they are keeping it secret makes the organization look fishy.  Its not like a time capsule has nation security implications.

At this point I'm ready to say screw these guys.  If they're trying to figure out how to make money from it, I say no one should give them a dime.

Absolutely. Things like this are meant to be treasured by everyone, not for some damn company to make a few more bucks.

Screw that.

All the lids for those soda cups?

(For those of you old enough to remember the Saran Wrap that Ballard used to save money.)

OH MY GOD! Forgot all about that until you mentioned it.  That always confused me as a kid ... to see the big trays of pre-poured plastic wrapped drinks... until I was old enough to understand what a cheap SOB he was.

Anyone following the re-opening of the Gardens?

I'm actually really surprised some people are denouncing this as corporate greed on behalf of Loblaws and some really disdainful comments.

The building was never going to be exactly the way it was - a venue for shows and the like. I think Loblaws did a great job for what their intentions were.

What's the word on the capsule? Is it tucked away with the ark of covenant?
