Maple Leafs @ Canadiens - Oct. 12th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

Well they won the last three season openers against the habs, and we know how the playoffs went, so maybe things will be different this year.

Game 1 of 82, no biggie. Muzz looked pretty rough, thought Murray was ok. Not a lot of help at times...on to the next one.

Pretty much. Didn?t take care of the puck in the OZ and NZ and let Montreal pick up speed with regularity.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as frustrated as the next person that we are going to have to hear about how Cole Caufield is a better goal scorer than Matthews till about the middle of November.

Remember last Sunday when you found a can of lite beer in the back of the fridge and said to yourself oh I shouldn't just waste this so you went out to the patio and got about halfway through it when somebody called you and you got up and started talking and wandered off and now you just remembered that you left it sitting out there and it rained on Monday and you go out and there it still is, flat and warm and all diluted?

This game was that beer.

Eh, the first week or 2 of the season you'll always see some wonky games. Only concern I have are those goals on Murray. He looked solid in preseason but really weak on glove side (which has been his history). Can they "fix" that? Ugh

Ok, but, here's the thing: when you find it, do you take a sip?

Murray's game didn't bother me as much as M&M. Head scratching how you have an effort like that in the 1st game of the season against one of your main rivals. If you can't get up up for a season opener somethings wrong.

Holl was terrible, Muzzin not much better, when Lily returns Holl must go.  Murray goes down far to fast, todays shooters are all going to try to pick the top of the net. If Murray was standing up most of those goals would have hit his upper body.

Good day Highlander hope all is well. Only 1 game but I was telling my son that as the game went on. We'll see as the season progresses.

A little sloppy last night, which, with it being the first game of the season and the team having to sit and wait through Montreal's opening ceremonies, should at least be somewhat expected.

They weren't awful last night, but they definitely made too many mistakes. I didn't feel like they let Montreal create much that wasn't basically the direct result of a Leaf screw-up. If they can cut down on the errors, they'll be fine.

Is this a rhetorical question?

Those who waste beer are in the Ninth Circle of Hell.  Or maybe the Seventh.  Whatever, it's in Dante somewhere.

That was ugly. I wouldn't put tons of blame on Murray either.

I still feel the same way.
I looked more closely at some of the goals allowed today.
I saw nothing soft or blatantly terrible.

Going into the season, the skaters seem like the more reliable, known talents.
These new goalies were the bigger question.
In this particular game, I think the goalie played better than the team in front of him.
Too many glaring or sloppy errors managing the puck (and a few bad bounces) that gave up good scoring chances.

Totally agree. I thought Murray was fine, team, not so much.

Hey Azzuri, I sold my house in Vernon and am now on the Westside, I love it out here with all the bears, deer, mountain goats and a creek in the backyard, all sorts of wildlife including me!
