That play was 2 on 2 and Sandin kept telling Matthews to take the other guy. But Matthews for some reason stayed in the middle. If he was closer to where he should have been he has a chance of tying the Bolts stick up. Instead he just has a lazy stick in the lane. Matthews has been very poor the last while. I'm not loving his work ethic.

Leafs scored another 3 on Vasi. That makes 7 out of the last 8 games they got at least 3 on him.

Yeah. I was referring more to their inability to win in OT in general. Very bottom of the league in this dept. and for what it?s worth, Murray should have stopped that but WTF is wrong with Matthews? He?s clearly disengaged this season for whatever reason. That was a horrible, nonchalant backpass to the lightning as it turned out. Matthews has gone from a take-away machine to a give-away one .

I totally disagree that Matthews is disengaged this season. If anything he's more committed to playing a stronger defensive game and not cheating on offence. Yes he made a bad pass but he did everything else right last night. Kept the guy far on the outside for a low percentage shot. I?m with GT. Matthews definitely seems to be focused on rounding out his game to do more to help the team win. Unfortunately, the goals aren?t coming quite as easily as in the past, but I have a hard time saying he?s struggling or disengaged. In terms of the defensive and physical sides of things, he seems to be more engaged than seasons past.
As for the play in OT last night?I have a hard time reading too much into that. Any mistake at 3-on-3 becomes magnified. And, quite frankly, overtime has become less about the best team winning and more about which team gets lucky.
