If I had full creative control I probably move out Kampf (probably not happening) and Reaves (definitely not happening). Reaves is Reaves, enough said really. Kampf has his uses but at this point any of Dewar, Holmberg, or even Lorentz could hold down the 4C spot, not to mention possible options later in the season like Quillan or even Minten. Sign Pacioretty and Lorentz and you have something like:
Knies-Matthews-Marner
McMann-Nylander-Robertson
Pacioretty-Tavares-Domi
Lorentz-Dewar-Jarnkrok
Holmberg
Rielly-Tanev
McCabe-Hakanpaa
OEL-Liljegren
Benoit
Woll
Stolarz
That still leaves a whopping $2.23mil in cap space that could be used on an additional roster player to get to a full 23-man roster. Or you could keep it open and have it accrue cap space that we could use to pick up a high AAV player for cheap without needing retention. Or use it to eat up any performance bonuses that Pacioretty might end up earning.
Jarnkrok sticks around as a potential safety net in case Robertson turns back into a pumpkin, or if Pacioretty is cooked halfway through the season. I have him staying over Kampf largely because he can potentially be more of a utility player that can plug and play anywhere in the line-up, as opposed to Kampf who should only be playing 4C IMO. And because he's one of the few right handed shots both on the NHL or even AHL team. Trading both could be an option but leaves the team very short on forwards who can play defensive minutes.
Eventually I would also probably move Knies or Marner down in the line-up to spread out the top wingers a little more, but that line-up's probably where I start.
If the team needs an additional forward later in the season, either at wing or C, you can possibly shop Liljegren if the rest of the D looks solid.
Ultimately I don't think these are the moves that we see happening, but again just what I'd do.
edit: actually I'm realizing now you don't even need to trade Reaves to get this under the cap, so I guess he could stay for the vibes but not play much.
