Marincin on waivers

Maybe the strategy is:
Ok, we got 9 games tryout for 2 Swedes... lets see in the next 17 games how they will handle the NHL, we also have a guy that knows our system practicing with the team that we may sign if we need it to.

Does the 10-game rule apply to European free-agents? I think it only applies to CHL-eligible players.

The Entry Level Slides don't apply for the Swedes because they are 20+ in age.

I don't believe players signed to one-way NHL contracts can be assigned to the ECHL unless their contract has an ECHL provision in it (or the player agrees to it).  A quick google search turned up nothing to corroborate this but I remember reading it a while back.  Players on NHL ELC are by-definition on two-way contracts and are eligible.

I don't believe Zee said "There's nowhere for him to go but up on his current contract".

Seriously, busta did it the other day and now you. Don't try to "technically" me. Come at the King, you best not miss.

LOL.  Nik, you are my favourite. All hail the king!  ::)

If he clears does he have to play for the Marlies or could he swing over to the KHL?

If he clears (he has) he could be sent to the Marlies or he could stay with the Leafs. If he refuses to report to the Marlies, if assigned there, he could be released opening up the possibility of going to the KHL or a deal worked out with KHL/Euro team with a loan type situation.

Something like that. I doubt any of that happens.

Seriously though, for all the handwringing if the club's decision is that Marincin isn't even really worth keeping around as the #7 guy then at 25 it's probably safe to assume he's going to be of limited use going forward.

You know I'm always going to get technical on you. That's my role here. 8)

Right but my role is to make the sardonic comments with the very precise language. Matthews could sign that contract.

Sure, in theory . . .
