I hope you're right but I'm inclined to think MaxPax will get a lot of the sympathy vote.

& Ratty might get the Elder Statesman vote....

Boy, that Daniel Alfredsson sure showed a lot of sportsmanship & gentlemanly conduct when he smashed Tucker into the boards from behind, shot that puck at Niedermayer, and went medieval on that water bottle last night!

Which is exactly why he's not nominated for the Lady Byng.

Oh yeah...good point!  Ummmm, let's pretend that instead of getting my trophies mixed up, I was just saying that he's too scummy to win any of them. :P

Between Lupul and Pacioretty I think Lupul has the edge. They both were injured and had to work towards a return but Lupul's recovery took a lot longer and from what I recall there was quite a grim outlook for him.  For him to return with a career year is some pretty serious dedication.

All that really happened to Pac was he got injured by an illegal hit, luckily the injury wasn't as bad as it could be, he rehabed over the summer and was ready to go for this year.

Not to take anything away from Pac but I think most players would have made a similar recovery if they were in his shoes.  I'm not sure I can say the same thing about Lupul's injury.  I think some players may have thrown in the towel.

On a side note, shouldn't Crosby have been a finalist?  When I think of his situation, I can't help but think about how dedicated he's been to his recovery.  It's pretty remarkable.  I think he may deserve it over all those guys.

Was he back yet when they had to submit their nominees?  I think he was either still out of the lineup or was reinjured.

If he's healthy next season, that's when he'll win it. It's a similar situation to Lupul.

I guess technically 'sportsmanship' is one of the Masterton factors.

I don't see how Lupul doesn't win it though. He had a rough year in Edmonton, went back to Anaheim and had a laundry list of issues. Hell, he had a freaking BLOOD infection!

I'm actually surprised to some extent that Fleischmann wasn't on the list given his heart condition.

Not trying to take anything away from Lupul or Alfie but I think MP's 32 goal season coming back off a broken vertebrae will probably land him the Masterton - in only his second season on top of that.

He had a good season/response, no doubt, but I think Lupul's adjustment to his offwing after missing 87 games and outscoring Max in 13 fewer games this year is pretty impressive.

Yeah no doubt - whoever wins is deserving.
