The Belfast Giants are doing a charity game in a couple of weekends for the Northern Ireland hospice. The aim is to raise over £100,000 for a charity which provides respite and care to those with terminal illness in their final stages.
There is a little bit of Maple Leaf interest. It’s a couple of teams made up of hockey players and “celebrities”.
Sheldon Keefe is coaching one of the teams - his brother Adam is the Giants head coach so they’ll be coaching against one another.
The other is Owen Nolan, Belfast born, but icing for the first time ever in Belfast.
A few other notable participants are former Chelsea football goalkeeper Petr Cech who has played for the Giants in the top professional British hockey league, Brad Bonello who stars in Shoresy, and former Flyer, King and Capital Mike Richards. Along with a few boxers, Gaelic football and hurling players, rugby players and actors etc
I think it should be a fun event and hopefully they make a lot of money.
