Nylander: ?I don?t want him on my team?

Don?t see too many other players in the tournament capitalizing on that same opportunity.

Maybe not exactly as many points as Nylander but Kucherov, Mantha, Gusev, Voracek have within two points of him and then Kakko, Hornqvist, Hischer Hronek and Lander have 7 points each too.

Do you really think beating up on these teams is indicative of anything?

no matter what the Nylander haters would never be satisfied with what he does or doesn't do in this tourney. A lot of "yeah but"

I'm not a Nylander "hater", I think he's a good player and am totally fine with the contract but lighting up Norway for 5 points and a couple 2 point games against Austria and Italy isn't anything to get excited over, but hey, if you think it's a big deal... great.

Well, unless they're fans of Team Sweden, why would they be? Even if Nylander was tearing it up, scoring bucket loads of points against grade A competition the people who weren't happy with him last year won't be happy until he starts doing that in the NHL again.

Yup. No issues here either but as far as the tourney goes, he's basically doing it against AHLers so no big deal. I hope it gives him some confidence moving forward to next season and he should keep wearing 88.

never said it was a big deal, I am just saying basically if he didn't score a point in these games he would be ripped to shreds that he cant score against ahl competition etc.. that he is a bum and all. Sure last year was a mess, but Im very hopeful he turns back to near the from before this year, next year and beyond

I wouldn't be shocked if he was moved for a D man.

I would be. I don't think the type of defenceman Dubas would be open to moving Nylander for - someone close to the same age, already shown to be able to perform at a high level in the NHL, etc. - is going to be available this summer. If the Leafs move out a forward for help on the blueline, it's more likely to be a package centered around Kapanen or Kadri.

I'm not sure enough people, including toronto media, are watching these games with enough intensity to make any strong narratives one way or another. This is essentially a relegation tournament with an array of tired and (I'd guess) not fully engaged NHL players.

And I'd be shocked in Nylander got traded because a) you don't sell low and b) dubas said he wouldn't, which Nylander proclaimed at his presser, which I don't believe was ever contradicted.

I will never understand the Nylander bashing, the guy is going to be more than great, the contract in two years will look like a steal especially when you see what they end up playing Marner

To be fair he was horrible this season, by his own standards, so it's understandable. I do think in a year or so the contract will look really good.
