Oilers @ Leafs - Mar. 27th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

On a completely different topic I was watching Dermott tonight and while he hasn't necessarily been bad I sure wish Sandin gets back into shape and they can bring him in to see how he does in the spot.  They desperately need some more offense from the D and I think he could provide a bit.

OK, I'll put my hobbyhorse back in its stall.

I agree on Dermott.  He?s just there.  Whether it is Sandin or a trade I think that is a spot I wouldn?t be opposed to upgrading

I really like Dermott and I don't know what has happened to him. He used to have an offensive punch to his game that seems to have just disappeared. I also remember him being much more physical.

Dermott's never really had much of an offensive game. I think people believe he does because he skates so well. He had some pretty good years in the OHL but he was playing on McD's team in Erie.

It's premature to declare that Galchenyuk is the extra top 6 winger they wanted but that was a top 6 pass to Tavares.  If they think he can fit that bill, then an upgrade on offense from the back end would be a good thing to have.

The only way I see Dermottt going is if there's a trade and they're getting a better D man back. Dermott won't be going for a forward. Going to need defensive depth in the playoffs.

I don't know what to make of Dermott. He makes some really smart plays in the dzone to evade forecheckers, but it seems like as soon as he crosses the blueline with the puck he has no confidence or idea of what to do. So he either dumps it in from center or tries to carry it in and usually loses control. I don't really see any signs that he can overcome that - if he did something spectacular once in a while you could say maybe with time and confidence he'll do it more often. But I don't know if I've seen him make a good offensive play all year. Even Bogosian seems to have more offensive instincts.

He's OK defensively and seems to do OK when he has to move up the lineup due to injury. I guess his main benefit at this point is keeping Marincin out of the lineup.

Poor azzuri missing that 3rd period and overtime
Ha!

Yep poor Azzurri how little you all know.

What did you think of the Kassian hit?  Was it charging?  I need to look at it again but I thought it looked clean at first blush and on the one replay I saw.

Holl didn't take a penalty, but on the other hand their "tough guy" leveled our captain and if it was a charge, do you think Holl should have fought him?  These are serious questions, not gotchas.  I'd be interested in how you interpret that kind of borderline physical play since you emphasize team toughness.

He's so adorable it's like as if Hello Kitty and Pikachu had a baby.

;D

Except he kind of looks like Jack Nicholson in "The Shining."

I wasn't find of his game tonight either but he battled through it and made some good saves. The best thing is the Leafs don't give up be side they know they can score on anyone. Leafs are 6-1-1 against the Oil this season and the Leafs have pretty much outplayed them in every game. They only had 20 shots tonight. Hope they put a beating on them Monday.

I didn?t see it so can?t comment. When approximately did it happen? Time?

You missed his nice goal on Price earlier this year!

Just went back and looked it up. It was a nice shot. 4 on 4 so more open ice and the Leafs already had possession in the o-zone. He did look pretty calm and confident though, would be nice to see more of that.

Easiest game in the world to quit on. Back to back, against a hot team and down early. This team showed some real heart getting back in it and getting the win. If the reverse had happened people would be lining up to say it revealed a character deficiency but those people are going to be conspicuously silent tonight.

Apart from it being a back to back, agreed.
