Oilers @ Leafs - Oct. 12th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Another ugly, ugly win.  Some ugly officiating too, and 40% at the FO circle for the second game in a row, but still somehow a win.

I also can't help but speculate how this team will look come November when we should have Kuli, Frasier, and Clarkson in the lineup again.  LK's lineup posted above is exactly what I want to see.

Also, now we get to find out two things in the goaltending showdown: What Reimer has in store for us, and how Bernier will bounce back from a lukewarm game if/when he gets his next start.  Should be interesting.

I can't believe how we're winning , just mystifies me

Trade Clarkson.

I really wouldn't mind seeing him on the 3rd line.
Kessel-JVR-Bozak
Lupul-Raymond-Kadri
Clarkson-Bolland-Kulemin
Bodie-McLement-Broll
(McLaren/Orr can buzz off)

I would swap Raymond and Clarkson. I think it provides better balance in terms of skill and physicality.

This game reminded me of a game I watched between EDM and TO in the 80s. We won that one 7-6, very entertaining.  During this game, our defense and goaltending were sub par. I felt that Bernier let a couple of soft goals in. The only reason we won is because the offense can put up points. I would rather have a bunch of boring well played defensive games.

The good news is that when Clarkson comes back, or anyone comes back, they don't have to worry about anyone claiming Ashton on waivers.

Yeah Ranger looked closer to the top 4 guy we've seen in Tampa. He still gets caught up ice a bit, but it seems he's getting way better at getting back and making a good play to recover.

You have to swap them- Clarkson and Kulemin both play RW.  Raymond and Lupul prefer the left side.

Anyways, we discovered last night that Bernier is human... But overall our team defence needs to improve big time- it will be hard for our offence to keep up this pace.

Largely because no team will be provided with that opportunity. :P

WRONG AGAIN FRANK!

Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle said it best in his post-game press conference: "Dave Bolland has a history of scoring big goals."

"We have confidence, we just don't give up," Bolland said. "In Chicago, when I was there, we'd be down 5-4 or 5-1 against teams and we knew we could come back.  We have that feeling in the room. If we're down, we can come back."

"We got a lot of experience in here, a lot of character players," said James van Riemsdyk. "We don't ever quit and that's a huge attribute to have.  We never seem to stop playing and that's key."

"It was back and forth, and we kept coming," said Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf. "That's probably one of the most momentum swings -- back and forth, back and forth -- that you're going to see. We'd like to come out on the winning end and we did."

"My teeth are going to be ground down by the 20-game mark if we keep playing the way we did tonight, as far as exchanging chances and mistakes," Carlyle said. "But hey, that's hockey and it's early in the season. I'm sure we're going to see a few more like this along the way. We're just fortunate we're on the extra point side of it."

And...
"Our guys were battling hard and we couldn't keep the surge from coming," said head coach Dallas Eakins. "I thought we were doing a lot of great, great things and it just seemed like that puck kept coming in our net."
