Hilarious.

Yeah, Frig off Keefe.  Get rid of him.
So it's Keefe's fault Bert missed an open net, or Jones couldn't make a save? Sorry not buying it. Leafs played a decent game. They need a killer shutdown D man and they need Woll back.

See post #177 right below this.  End of story.

We don't have the horses to compete anymore vs. the Oilers. Feels just like the Avs. Horribly balanced team.

Yeah, this isn't all Keefe's fault.  Bertuzzi and Domi have been duds.  But they haven't played well all season and it's time for a jolt.
Then make a damn trade.

Fire his ass first.  He's done, he's stale, he's out of here.

Who should they trade, and for what? This team is a lot more than a trade away from being a contender. It's also probably a lot more than a new coach away from being a contender for that matter.

Hard to believe management will allow that considering they just extended him.

Yes but he needs to look for it...he didn't.

He was. Watch the replay.

Happened quite quickly.
He looked around from behind the Oiler in front of him
The puck came in quickly from the other side of the Oiler in front of him.
He never saw it.

From the angle they showed on TSN in between the periods, he didn't see Draisaitl's shot either - or didn't see it until it was too late.

The story around Tre resigning him was that he wanted to see how things went this season.  We see how it's going.  Their record, which is rapidly heading south, flatters them.  They have been blowing multi-goal leads all year.  It isn't working, and it's the easiest change to make.  The money?  Pffffft.

Watch the winning goal. Rielly and Benoit are standing on the far side of the net covering NO ONE! Who told  Rielly to chase a guy behind the net and Brodie not working to get back to cover Ryan. Who told Jones to let in that absolute dogshit first goal. The team needs a D man to push Brodie down the pairings because they are absolutely brutal positionally. Funny how come they were good defensively last year and now they're not? Who's the D coach? The team is poorly constructed and Tre needs to do something yesterday.

He was cheating on the Drai goal. He should be on his post. Horrible goal. And he needs to come off his post on the last goal...if anything he would come into contact with McD.

Of course he does.  But so what?  If the team has been crap all season, the head coach takes the fall.  Especially if he has no track record of playoff success.

GMs don't fire themselves.

At this point, I don't think I'd want them to be trading any of their meager assets (what's the saying, the team tells you whether to buy or sell at the deadline?). I'd rather them bring in a new coach and see what impact that has on this group. Only then should Treliving consider whether it is worth buying at the deadline.

Too many flaws to fix with a bandaid trade or two.

Make a trade. I'm not opposed to firing Keefe but this team is not built well. Tre had 16+M to address their issues and he failed miserably. Start fixing it.

But the team isn't built properly. The D isn't good enough with Brodie logging all those minutes. He looked horrible on the non Hyman goal and on the tying goal.

That's just pocket change to them. Their management egos have more value to them.

The Leafs are now below .600: .595 pts win%, 13th place in the league

Before the all star break, their next five opponents are all playing .700 or better in their last ten games.

They probably have to get 4 pts in the next 5 games or they'll enter the all star break outside of the wildcard spots. Imagine the MLSE board wandering around the All Star game in Toronto trying to explain how their ~$100 million roster is on the outside looking in. I don't like Keefe's chances if that goes down.

It is far from all Keefe's fault but he's the easy fall guy for now.

Again - who are you trading, what are you getting back, how many assets are you spending? Is it worth doing this year or better to wait until the off season? I don't think the team has shown enough to make spending assets worth it. Rather first see if a new coach can inspire the players that are here. But whatever...neither of us has any say in what happens so that's all I'll say for now.

GT you might think I'm crazy but I would retool. This team isn't a trade away from being a contender. All starts with the core. We are doomed. Dubas left us handcuffed with not much in the minors no draft picks for what? Hopefully Tre doesn't do the same which he may not have to when we sink further in the standings. Stars overpaid. All with NMC and NTC. Nothing in the minors to get excited about. Trade off some players and hopefully fill in the roster with some better signings than what Tre did this off season starting with a proven goalie or if they think Woll is the answer then improve this horrible D. Then see if 16 or 91 will waive their clauses and maybe ship one or both out but that won't happen. This team has been average all year. I've been saying for years now this team with the constant shuffling or retooling with this core isn't going to win anything. Time to move on from them but management hasn't learnt sh*t they just keep forking out horrible contracts and maybe magically one day things will change.

Domi is probably the only one out of that list I'd have an interest in keeping, but only if you could surround him with a better cast on some kind of scoring sheltered third line.

I'd literally trade the rest of them now (well, can't imagine we can trade Klingberg while injured) for whatever can be got and bring up some other youngsters to round out the lineup.

I would try Domi LW on the first line. Knies needs to sit, he looks gassed.

Try Holmberg entering the 3rd line.

Brodie is probably the biggest issue with the team right now, not because he's a horrible player but because he's nowhere near as good as he was last year. Needs to be bottom pairing right now. Giordano is also not as good as last year. Try Lagesson in his spot.

Leafs need someone to play top minutes with Rielly.
