Opening Round: San Jose vs Las Vegas

My big takeaway from this game is that penalties are never called in playoff games because ?let them play?

Also thornton with another greasy hot.  Not his first head hunting expedition in his career

That's some Tom Wilson quality head hunting right there.

Joe is getting just a phone interview because this wasn't retaliatory. He just felt like elbowing someone in the head for funsies and that's less bad in the NHL's eyes.

His injury has taken a lot of attention away from him, but Erik Karlsson becoming an UFA could be a pretty huge story. I don't see him re-signing with San Jose.

I can?t even begin to guess where he?d go. Who has the cap space and the opportunity window to leverage a 29 year old offensive 1RD (with recent injury issues)?

I was just looking at the teams with the most cap space in this season and Philly, New Jersey, and Carolina all jumped out at me. I think New Jersey is an especially interesting option since they might need to do something big to get Hall to stay after next season. Those two plus Hischier and Hughes makes for a pretty solid core.

Florida's also expected to be pretty active this summer. Everyone thinks they'll go for Panarin/Bob but if that doesn't happen there'll be room for Karlsson.

A long-shot choice would be Chicago if they can dump Seabrook's contract on Edmonton, or some other dumb team, but probably Edmonton.

What about Columbus? They just need to lock in Werenski and find a goalie, but they don't have any heavy commitments next season.

Very true, assuming they aren't able to lock up all of their big-3 UFAs. I saw someone suggest Buffalo as well and that wouldn't be ideal for us. There definitely won't be a shortage of teams interested if he makes it to July 1st.

Will playoff success change their tunes? Bob looks like he's playing for that next contract away from Torts (NJD, FLA, EDM lol), Panarin is looking for creature comforts (NYR, LAK, FLA)... Duchene probably gets snapped up by Montreal who have been desperate for a centre forever and will need to throw money to make the Carey Price and Shea Weber deals stick.

Buffalo just lost out on McLellan for realsies lol.

Wow...

San Jose Down 3-0 with like 10 mins left in the 3rd period gets a 5 min PP.  They score 4 (yes FOUR) PP goals to take the lead.

Vegas ties it with less than a minute left.

This is going to OT!!!

Babcock well his replacement should show this team this 3rd period and let this team see what real playoff hockey is like and what it takes to win in the playoffs.

The extremely costly 5 minute penalty to Eakin, was barely a 2 minute minor in reg season game, let alone a game 7 3rd period.

Horrible call by the refs there.
