That bloody Carlyle, telling his players not to skate, turn the puck over, take horrible penalties I mean, come on!!!

Why even have a coach then?  If whatever happens on the ice Carlyle is absolved of, why can't anyone stand behind the bench?

Why even have players if Carlyle can't win the game from the bench?

What?  Either the coach has an impact on the way the team is playing or he doesn't.  Which is it?

You're smarter than this.  Some of the players obviously are discontent with Carlye and his style.  That has an impact on performance.

Well, I qualified my comment above but obviously a coach has impact, still if the players are going to play like that for a period I don't know exactly what kind of onus to put on him... I'm not there to see the day to day or have all the information. I think the ball has just been tossed back into Randy's court and we'll see how they respond in the second but this stuff is pretty overblown overall to me.

I see a tired team. I don't know where you're getting the 'obvious discontent' from, that's new to me.

Tigger, you have a point.  It's not all on Carlyle (where is the first line lately?) but he does have something to do with their consistent underperformance.

Grabvoski and MacArthur had plenty of discontent when they left.  Clarkson has mentioned not scoring because of a defensive role.  Seems pretty frequent.

Wow bad shift but really that was a blatant penalty against Kulikov that allowed him all that time and space.

But it's not a "lately" thing, this has been going on for months (Kessel has 10 pts in last 10 games for the record).  Basically from when Carlyle took over their possession numbers have taken a HUGE dive, and consequently their shots for/against have been ridiculous.  It has hurt their offense and made their goaltending need to be excellent just to be in games.

There's a pretty clear correlation between when Carlyle took over and when these things started to happen like this.

How was that a no call?

On the other hand, getting shoved should not send you flying.  Kessel has toughen up in the defensive end and put a little effort into something that isn't an offensive rush.

Well, as you or somebody pointed out, it really started going south at the end of the regular season last year.  Then the series against BOS ... which is now looking like a real aberration.  Just like the CHI game.

But regardless of Kessel's stats we need to see more from the first line on a regular basis.

When you don't expect it is is.  You see it all the time.
