Panthers @ Leafs - Feb. 3rd, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

What an embarrassing loss.  Just a bunch of damn quitters.  Two goal lead and then give up 4 in the 3rd against the team chasing you in the standings.  They have no fight in them.  So awful.

Everyone rags on me when I say there?s not enough snarl on this team. Have all the talent in the world but too many players who play the same style of game. U have to have some balance and the two areas we are weak in have stayed status quo. No cap, no blue line and no backup. Anyway I?ve had enough for a while. I actually hope they miss the big show. Team frustrates the hell out of me. Take care everyone.

If Freddie is hurt for any length of time it's over.

With or without him they'll be lucky to squeek in, and even then, they don't have any kind of backbone to make any noise. This team needs major reconstruction, starting in goal. Fred has been shit for quite some time.

Looks like two head-shots on Freddie, first bumped his head back and then the second collision bumped it to the side. Sure hope it's not a concussion/neck. Weeks out with a league-min goalie on a team where defense is not a strong point...

Leafs played great but so did Bob. They couldn't get a few saves in the third. Tough one.

A disappointing loss, Ray?  It's an epic embarrassment.
What's so embarrassing? They lost a game. CC is horrible and Hutch couldn't make a save. O'Neill is right and he's blaming him. Marner gets some blame too for his penalty and turnovers.

Blowing a 3-1 lead in the 3rd is embarrassing for any NHL team.
CC is embarrassing.

Long term it may not be the worst thing that they miss.  Will cause everyone from top to bottom to re-evaluate.
It won't ruin my summer if they don't make it.
Fair enough.  Maybe it will cause everyone to realize they aren?t quite as outstanding as they think.

I think a balanced view is: the Leafs have enough talent to overcome their weaknesses and make the playoffs* but they are far from being genuine contenders.  Dubas/Shanahan/Keefe need to take a hard look beyond this season, which at best is a long shot, and deal with the problems everyone can see.  I'll harp on it again: they need to maximize the window of the big 4's contracts.  I fear this year will end up being a wasted opportunity to develop the blue line.

* Unless Andersen, their MVP, is out for long.

As bad as some of you think, they only gave up 13 shots in the final 2 periods. CC sucks and Hutch couldn't stop a beachball.

I'm pretty sure they're aware of their needs. Making the changes is the trick. Let's see what Dubas can do.

Nice to see that the "React like Lunatics to every loss" brigade is out here reacting like lunatics but assuring us that, this time, it's really meaningful.

It's like the boys who cried wolf only if the villagers were actively rooting for the wolf to eat the boy.

The reactions after a loss are pretty hilarious

Well, I thought the leafs dominated but got a couple of bad bounces.  If they play like this for the rest of the season, they will make the playoffs.

If Andersen is out for any length of time come back and revisit this.
Most of the frustration is based on the situation we are in and have been for a long time that hasn't been addressed.
It's ok for some of you and others like myself get frustrated or pissed off at the situation.
Why because we've been bashing it for a long time. Weak D, no backup blah blah blah.
I told my kid early in the year after the lacklustre start that Babcock had to go and we probably won't make the playoffs because of him.
That and Dubas' decisions and lack of have hurt this team.

I thought the Leafs played mostly great and some mistakes at key spots turned into goals against while the chances we earned didn?t cash. Matthews was gifted a chance at his own hat trick but the bounces went the other way.

You don?t have to be a lunatic to see how a few things out of place can have an effect of this team.  Poor/lacklustre defence and less than effective net minding (with Andersen out) did the Leafs in against the Panthers.

The pressure will be on Hutchinson to perform a Freddie while Andersen is out.  Not impossible but the Leafs will need improved defence in the hopes of a better outcome.

The third period implosion had better not happen often from here on in.

I wouldn?t call tonight?s loss cataclysmic, just one of those times when, for a period, nothing goes right.

Let?s hope Andersen is alright and not out for long.  Still a ways to go before season?s end.  The Leafs have more than a chance to make the playoffs.  I wouldn?t give up on them now.

This is rational...people claiming they should trade everybody or saying they hope they miss the playoffs is not
