Game Notes
FLA
-Sergei Bobrovsky (31-16-2, 2.54 GAA, .906 Sv%) will start for the Panthers
-Florida is coming off a 3-2 OT loss against the Canadiens on Tuesday night. They gave up the game tying goal with 9 seconds left in the game and allowed the winner 29 seconds into overtime. Back-up Vitek Vanecek was in net for Florida
-Brad Marchand has 0 goals and 1 assist in 3 games as a Panther since returning from his injury and after being acquired by Florida at the trade deadline
TOR
-Anthony Stolarz (16-8-3, 2.35 GAA, .919 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
-Toronto goes into this game with a very slim lead on the Atlantic division. They are just 1 point ahead of Tampa and 2 points ahead of Florida. All 3 teams have 8 games remaining

I would have expected Leafs to start Woll because Stolarz doesn't fare well against Panthers. They have the book on him, and put past 4 goals in November on 23 shots.

I think it's good to see how Stolarz performs in this one. Leafs will be giving their all to try and secure the 2 points and stay atop the division.

Hopefully this is a green-light game. Meaning , the Leafs look really good (for a change) against this Florida team. For the purposes of reassurance, a win is required tonight .Go Leafs Go!

Meh... there is no easy path in the playoffs. I am not too hung up on anything that happens before then.

Regarding the playoffs: JT is flying, Nylander is reliable, Reilly usually finds that extra gear, the D and G are the best the core has seen. Will Marner and Matthews contribute in a meaningful way?

Will Marner and Matthews contribute in a meaningful way?

As someone who is quite critical of their playoff performance, they do get the hardest assignments as the matchup #1 AND offense generator #1. I think if any other players were swapped into that assignment, we would've lost much earlier.

That being said, under Keefe, they were relatively safe and I would say maybe too cautious at times. Their preferred method of generating offense was easily neutered (cover everyone else and let Marner hang onto the puck on the perimeter until he gives it away). Under new coaching, we need to see them take control of games (even just moments) on a more regular basis in these matchups to warrant their cost (a la McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Kucherov). The Leafs need the PP to look at more options than just forcing a seam pass to Matthews, which encouragingly as not been an issue in 2025 since Matthews' injury issues pushed them to find different looks. If they can just get regular goaltending and reasonable PK with Matthews-Marner playing a bit more directly, I think we can take just about any opponent.

Just looking for a good effort tonight - Florida is on the second of a b2b and missing some key players so there is really no excuse to not come out on top here. Maybe we get goalied or lose because of some bad bounces, so be it but just show up and battle like it matters.

Meh... there is no easy path in the playoffs.
Their likely paths are:
Defending Cup champ, Florida, still playing well
A hot past Cup champ, Tampa
or
A pretty hot Ottawa who swept them this season

So no easy path

A win tonight helps them towards getting home ice in the first round.

I don't care about calling it a penalty but the Panthers player just threw a hit on Kampf on an icing call. How is that not interference
