they are in a bit of a losing streak.  Its about time we start seeing some face punching.  Preferably with crosby and his ugly mug.

Both teams with tough losses last night.

Any confirmation about whether Lupul will play.

Any reason why Bozak didn't play last half of third last night?

Wow our second line is terrible...Lupul is sorely missed there and Kadri should always be ahead of Bolland. Bolland seems like more of a plugger than a playmaker.

Orr and McLaren versus that rough and tough Pittsburgh team....*facepalm*

Chris Kunitz has one less point then Kessel.  So to match up offensively, all we need is the 120th overall scorer (Bozak) to match Crosby.  This isn't going to be good.

I'm kind of hoping that Lupul can go tonight, they could use his scoring. Bodie should be in for Orr/ McLaren also.

I've never missed Kulemin so much...

Clarkson better not take stupid penalties. Just win the damn game. I am still feeling disgusted about last nights game

29th in face-offs now.  I don't think it's a truly important stat, but if you're a team struggling with possession and scoring chance differential, it's compounding the problems right now.

Indeed, we need to find the Barb Underhill of face-offs, does that person exist?

Since the Leafs didn't play last night, they should have plenty of energy for tonight.

;D

on the positive side, look! Fleury (sieve 2.0) is in net!

:)

I'm looking for big things from JVR tonight if my Joffrey doesn't play.

His numbers on the year sure as heck don't look sieve-ish unfortunately.  He saves that for the postseason.

What happened to the Leaf's faceoffs?  It's one area I thought they were doing pretty good at

No, it's something they've been pretty bad at all season. They've won more faceoffs than their opponent only twice - the first two games of the season - and have been 40% or below in 6 of their last 8 games. It's an area where they were only marginally above average last season (and, by marginally, I really mean marginally - they won 3 more faceoffs than they lost during the regular season in 12/13).

Going from around 15th in the league last year to 29th is quite a drop off.

I agree that it's compounding their puck possession problems - tonight whenever they lose a draw to Crosby or Malkin in the defensive zone, don't expect to see the puck back very quickly.

I was hoping that Bozak would pick up where he left off last yr, but for whatever reason he's been quite off. Last night McClement and Kadri went combined 8/11, while Bozak went 9/26.

You guys know me, I'm all about breaking the schedule down to 10 game chunks and as long as they get 5-6 wins in each chunk they'll be OK. I don't want to be an alarmist but the Leafs have lost 3 of the last 4 now. They need to turn that around stat.
