Penguins @ Leafs - Oct. 26th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Ashton was called up and Leivo was sent down. I've liked Leivo's play but Carlyle barely plays him so what's the point of him being up. Then again Carlyle barely plays Ashton either. Man our forward depth rules.

Lupul getting his ankle scanned doesn't sound like a gametime decision to me.

I'm pretty much with Highlander's comment in the injury thread -- Lupul could have made a difference last night and every point is precious.  The fact that he couldn't be bothered to wear safety equipment that his coach mandated pisses me off.  Unnecessary injury, and to a player we can't afford to be without if at all possible.

Well it's actually decent, but he insists on playing crappy players.  Colton Orr flubbing the puck 6 feet up the boards on the Bolland goal is his wonderful justification for Orr being in the lineup.

Are you implying that having 1 guy not see the ice in the 2nd half of the game  (McLaren) and 2 others have their only shift in the 3rd be the last 27 seconds of the game (Leivo and Smith) is poor roster management? ;D

What happened to the Leaf's faceoffs?  It's one area I thought they were doing pretty good at

No, it's something they've been pretty bad at all season. They've won more faceoffs than their opponent only twice - the first two games of the season - and have been 40% or below in 6 of their last 8 games. It's an area where they were only marginally above average last season (and, by marginally, I really mean marginally - they won 3 more faceoffs than they lost during the regular season in 12/13).

Going from around 15th in the league last year to 29th is quite a drop off.

I agree that it's compounding their puck possession problems - tonight whenever they lose a draw to Crosby or Malkin in the defensive zone, don't expect to see the puck back very quickly.

I was hoping that Bozak would pick up where he left off last yr, but for whatever reason he's been quite off. Last night McClement and Kadri went combined 8/11, while Bozak went 9/26.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere that possibly Bozak is not completely healed from his injury at the end of the season that knocked him out of the playoffs.  Wasn't the muscle pulled off the bone or something along those lines?  I don't know if this is the case but it seems to make a bit of sense.

This team needs to be fixed quickly.  Hate to cry that the sky is falling after a 7-4 start but there really isn't a whole lot to love about this start despite the record.

Lupul pisses me off as well, a guy with an injury history like his not taking the necessary precautions is just ludicrous.

ditto. As much as I love the guy, he has to realise that he makes his living with his body (god that sounds awful) and he should be doing everything he can to make certain he stays healthy. Not wearing protective gear when it's readily available is just inexcusable. I'd slap him if I could. *fwap*

I really don't think it would be too bad if they just took Orr and McLaren out of the lineup.
JVR            BOZAK    KESSEL
RAYMOND  KADRI    CLARKSON
LEIVO        BOLLAND  ASHTON
BODIE      MCLEMENT  ABBOT/DEVANE

Doesn't look that bad to me. You don't have to worry about the 4th line getting more than 5 or 6 minutes with this group.

MapleLeafs: Tyler Bozak will not be in the lineup due to a lower body injury. Ashton recalled, Leivo assigned to the #Marlies #TMLtalk

Please leafs win tonight. Got me a 6 pack of post road pumpikin beer, gonna have some pizza and sit in my room, lights out and watch the good guys play the big bad penguins.. Would be sooooo happy if we can somehow pull out a victory. Thats all

The best part of the Bozak injury is it happened when he was tripped by a Columbus player.  Of course that play wasn't called.
