No welcome back video tribute for Kessel tonight, apparently.

I don't remember one for Clark when he came back with the Nordiques, or when Gilmour came back the first time either.  Might be that it wasn't en vogue to do so at the time.  The only one of note that I remember was Sundins when he came back with the Canucks.

Holy Penguins, Leafs fans!  It's Halloween...the return of Phil!
      Ssssounds sssspooky...OH MY......!

They did a video tribute for Darcy Tucker in 2009 in his first game back against Toronto.  Apparently even Carl Gunnarsson got one according to someone at the game.

I know there have been others I just can't remember them right now.

Forgot about the one for Tucker.  Didn't realize they did one for Carl Gunnarsson.  I'm a fence sitter when it comes to doing one for Kessel.

As much as I like Kessel it strikes me as pretty ridiculous that you'd pay much tribute to someone who both spent a relatively short and success-free time here.

Averaged about 33.5 goals a year over 5.5 years with the teams, worth a mention, I just hope they don't go over the top with it.

And all of those seasons were pretty disappointing ones. Typically one of the prerequisites for nostalgia is happy memories.

Those goals tended to be my happiest memories of the team over that period, I'm fine wit them giving him a stick tap.

Yeah I mean they wouldn't be retiring his number, these are short video tributes during a TV timeout. Seems weird to not do it for someone who was the teams best player for the past 6 seasons, and for a 3-year stretch was one of the leagues most productive players while wearing a Maple Leafs jersey.

I don't have super strong feelings about it either way but I would guess that if they don't it's because they know it might very well lead to him getting booed.

Phil needs to salute the crowd at some point. That'd be the absolute greatest troll job.

Healy just made the dumbest possible comment.  They had some graphic up showing Kessel's offensive production and there was some comment about it being in the same breath as Sundin and so Healy said "what would those be over his last 21 games here?"

The mind boggles.
